Zachery Ty Bryan's on-screen dad is finally speaking out about the former child star's legal woes. Tim Allen has opened up about the Home Improvement alum's recent trouble, telling The Hollywood Reporter that he had to "step aside" and allow Zachery's fate to play out.

Tim made the rare comments about his former costar during a recent interview.

"I don't know what's going on with him," Tim said of Zachery, who played Tim's son on his long-running ABC sitcom.
"Zach is a great kid who has grown into a complex man," he continued. "All you can do is step aside and let somebody go through their process. At a certain point, he deviated from the guy I know to somebody who is reacting to situations that I had nothing to do with and can't control."
Zachery has had a big fall from grace.
The one-time teen heartthrob has been in a lot of legal trouble lately, including a 2020 arrest on charges related to domestic violence.
In October of that year, Johnnie Faye Cartwright, Zachery's girlfriend at the time, accused the actor of strangling her. That arrest followed another just months prior, which saw him taken in for driving under the influence.
He also stands accused of defrauding multiple people out of tens of thousands of dollars.

Four people have accused Zachery of stealing nearly $50,000 from them in a scheme involving an agricultural-tech company called Producers Market, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
When asked for a comment, a representative for the company said, "Mr. Bryan misrepresented our company without our knowledge, participation or permission. When we found out, we immediately issued a cease-and-desist demand to him."
Tim had strong words for the man who once played a beloved son.
Fans of the series may have expected Tim to offer some words of fatherly advice or maybe even crack a joke about what Zachery has been through, but instead he fired back at the allegations against Zachery.
"I don't know what happens when people get corrupted," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "You just don't know."

Zachery isn't the only 'Home Improvement' alum facing backlash.
Pamela Anderson recently accused Tim of flashing her while she worked on the set as Lisa the Tool Girl on the series' fictional show Tool Time.
Although Tim denies the claims made against him, they have come at a time when he has been looked upon less favorably by fans who have grown weary of his political leanings.
Fortunately, Tim's star hasn't fallen as far as Zachery's. Hopefully he can get some help and rise above whatever has been going on with him lately.
