It's been almost three years since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot, but in that time, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have easily become an example of what true love looks like. Every time they're seen together in public, it's pretty obvious how much they care about each other — and of course, Harry's grandest romantic gesture of all is probably the fact that he gave up his royal life and moved to another country for Meghan's happiness and well-being. How do we all find a partner like that?
From the quieter moments between the two of them that have been captured on camera to the things they've said about each other through their relationship, just seeing them together is enough to make us believe in love. And now that they're about to welcome their second child into the world, we can only imagine that love is going to grow.

Those Early Dating Days
In the early part of Meghan and Harry's relationship — the part where they finally went out in public together, anyway — photos of them were few and far between. But moments like this, when they were at the closing ceremony of the 2017 Invictus Games, show how much fun they were having together. Such chemistry!
Harry's Very First Defense of Meghan
This couple tried to keep things private between them as long as they could, but they were forced to go (very) public when Meghan began getting harassed by the press. At the end of 2016, Harry released a statement, making it clear that he would not tolerate it.
"Prince Harry is worried about Ms. Markle's safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her," the statement said. "It is not right that a few months into a relationship with [Prince Harry] that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm. He knows that commentators will say that 'this is the price she has to pay' and 'this is all part of the game.' He strongly disagrees. This is her life and his."
Their Engagement Photos
One year after Harry's statement to the press, he and Meghan announced they were engaged in November 2017. That resulted in this adorable engagement photo call, where Meghan showed off her sparkly new ring and she and Harry couldn't have seemed more in love. The Engagement Interview
Just like Prince William and Kate Middleton did years earlier, after they took their engagement public, Harry and Meghan sat down for an interview with the BBC, and the whole thing was proof of how enamored they were by each other. Harry said he knew Meghan was the one on their very first date, and his love for her was clear.
"I know that I’m in love with this girl and I hope that she’s in love with me," he said. "I know that at the end of the day, she chooses me, and I choose her. And therefore, whatever we have to tackle together, or individually, it’ll always be us together as a team."
A Sweet Wedding Moment
Many of us in the US got up way too early to watch Meghan and Harry tie the knot, and as a reward, we got to witness this adorable moment happen in real time. After Meghan joined Harry at the altar, he whispered to her, "You look amazing. I'm so lucky." Why is he so perfect?!

It's hard to pick the best photo from Meghan and Harry's wedding — they're all absolutely gorgeous. One of the main reasons that we miss Harry and Meghan's Instagram account so much is seeing moments like this. They were just out on a royal engagement together, and the camera captured them all snuggled up. A little PDA can definitely be a good thing, and shows how much these two care about each other.
Happy Together
In what ended up being Meghan and Harry's final big royal tour, they went to southern Africa, and it seemed like they fully enjoyed this trip — at least, according to the photos. Here they are, walking hand in hand during a visit to Cape Town, South Africa. Look at those smiles!
Archie's Birth Announcement
Harry was practically glowing when he announced that Archie had entered the world — and he made sure to compliment his wife in the process. Talking to reporters after they shared the news, Harry said, "How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension." Later, he added, "I'm so incredibly proud of my wife."
A Family of Three
Never have we seen so much love between Harry and Meghan than we did when they made their first official appearance with Baby Archie. Though those first couple of days with a newborn can be a marathon (especially while Meghan was recovering from birth) they both looked like they were floating on cloud nine.
Leaving Royal Life
The ultimate show of love definitely had to be when Harry and Meghan walked away from royal life together. It wasn't working for them as a couple, and more than that, it wasn't working for Meghan and her mental health. It was a big sacrifice, and they've both paid for it in stress, but it was out of love.
Their Return to the UK
In March 2020, Meghan and Harry returned to the UK to finish up their royal engagements before peacing out from their duties forever, and they seemed to really be each other's rock during this trip. So many adorable photos like this one were taken during their visit.
The Oprah Interview
When Harry and Meghan sat down for their interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, they opened up about their difficult decision to leave the royal family, and their love for each other was so evident.
"I think he saved all of us. He ultimately called it and was like, 'We've got to find a way for us, for Archie,'" Meghan said in the interview. "You made a decision that certainly saved my life. And saved all of us."
Heading Home to Meghan
Since Meghan couldn't make it to the UK for Prince Philip's funeral in April 2021 while being so heavily pregnant, Harry went by himself — and he made sure to get back to his wife ASAP. The funeral was on a Saturday, and by Tuesday, Harry was landing in LA again, hurrying to get back to her.
