Todd Chrisley Fought in Prison With College Admission Scandal Ringleader Rick Singer

Todd Chrisley had one major issue while in prison. Early on, it was pretty clear that Todd wasn’t a fan of one of his fellow inmates, Rick Singer, who was sentenced to 3 ½ years in prison for a college admissions bribery scandal. But the tension between them intensified when Rick allegedly made a negative comment about Todd’s daughter Savannah. Determined to defend his daughter, the Chrisley Knows Best star threatened Rick and was almost transferred to another county because of the heated exchange.

Todd called Rick ‘the biggest snitch in America.’

Todd and Rick were inmates at the Federal Prison Camp Pensacola in Pensacola, Florida, at the same time. Rick was released to a halfway house in Los Angeles in 2024. During an appearance on his daughter Savannah Chrisley’s podcast, Unlocked, Todd admitted that he had no desire to interact with Rick in prison, as he viewed him as a “snitch.”

But then things escalated.

Though Todd reportedly tried to keep his distance, at one point, Rick made a comment that he couldn’t ignore. According to Todd, Rick said something bad about his daughter Savannah. Todd could not let the comment slide and the interaction escalated quickly.

“He was talking s— about Savannah, because that’s when she had already started, you know, pulling the Barbara Walters and exposing everything in the [Bureau of Prisons],” Todd claimed, per Us Weekly. “He started talking smack.”

So Todd threatened him.

Given that he was already in prison, Todd wasn’t all that concerned about the potential consequences when he responded to Rick’s offensive comments. “I just walked up to him, and I said, ‘I’m going to say this one more time. I’m already in prison,’” Todd said. Savannah added that her dad was definitely not “calm” when he did this.

“I said, ‘I will rip your head off and s— down your neck if you talk about my child again,’” Todd recalled. Looking back on the situation, Todd said he meant every word that he said.

“You know I would have done that,” Todd continued. “I said, ‘I don’t need you to be afraid of me. Just be aware that if my daughter’s name comes out of your mouth again, I will rip your head off and s— down your neck.’”

They didn’t have issues after that.

After the heated altercation, things seemingly calmed down between Todd and Rick. Savannah noted that her father was almost transferred to a different county because of the incident, but no other issues occurred after that. Todd added that he didn’t really have any other problems in prison.

Aside from Rick, Todd has generally spoken highly of the men he met in prison. During a press conference on on May 30, 2025, he said he “met some wonderful men” there. He promised to “continue to fight for all of the guys that I dealt with and that I was blessed to be with at FPC Pensacola.”

During his family’s My View With Lara Trump interview, Todd spoke about staying in touch with some of his fellow inmates. “Those kids deserve a second chance,” he said. “You know, you’ve got kids in prison for selling marijuana. But now it’s almost legalized everywhere. Yet we don’t make that retroactive for these young men. These young men still have a chance.”
