As professional athletes themselves, Travis and Jason Kelce have always been huge fans of sports in general. Though their New Heights podcast has expanded to many other topics, it’s still a sports podcast, so of course, the 2026 Winter Olympics were going to come up eventually. And after the brothers spoke about the now controversial US Men’s Hockey Team on the podcast, they’re coming under fire from fans who aren’t impressed they’d celebrate the men.

After the Team USA men won a gold medal (for the first time in nearly 50 years), footage from a congratulatory call from president Donald Trump surfaced online, and it didn’t exactly paint the team in a good light — especially when it came to their thoughts on the women’s hockey team, who also happened to win a gold medal.
In the video, Kash Patel has Trump on speakerphone as he tells the men he’s going to invite them to the White House to mark their achievement before adding, “I must tell you, we’re going to have to bring the women’s team, you do know that,” saying that he’d be “impeached” if he didn’t.
While this kind of sexist comment is par for the course where Trump is concerned, it was disappointing to a lot of fans to hear the men laughing along with him at his joke.
Travis and Jason praised the men and women’s teams.
On last week’s episode of New Heights, Travis and Jason both wore Team USA hockey jerseys and shared how impressed they were with the team’s performance. While Jason was there to see it in person, Travis watched at home with fiancée Taylor Swift.
“I just f—ing exploded when I saw ol’ Jack Hughes f—ing put it right in between the legs, man,” Travis said on the podcast.
To their credit, they also pointed out how well the women did, too. “They’re a great team, man. They’re tight-knit, they’re playing jokes on one another. Just so proud for all of them. It’s an incredible moment to win a gold medal,” Jason said of the women’s team, who he and wife Kylie Kelce got to meet at the Olympics.
Fans aren’t impressed — especially since Jason is a dad of four girls.
Even though Travis and Jason made sure to mention both the men’s and women’s teams, it simply wasn’t good enough for many of their listeners, who took the brothers to task in the comments of an Instagram post that featured a clip from New Heights.
“Wow…this is not what we expected…at all. You have four girls, Jason, and a wife who’s an athlete…think about that,” one commenter wrote.
“Read the room my friends. This is so disappointing,” another added.
So far, Travis and Jason haven’t appeared to address the backlash, though Kylie has had members of the women’s team as guests on her Not Gonna Lie podcast.
