It seems that the more this family tries to engage with the public, the more backlash they receive. Donald Trump’s granddaughter, Kai Trump, has become quite the polarizing figure on social media and beyond, especially given that she’s only 18. Most recently, she uploaded a TikTok video answering a question about where she sees herself in five years. For some, it might be a bit of a boring question with a generic answer that you wouldn’t really think twice about, but not when you have someone like Donald Trump as your grandfather. Kai’s answer didn’t sit well with many people, and given the state of the world, we can see why.

Sitting down on an annoyingly pristine-looking white sofa with some gray pillows behind her, amateur pro golfer and President Donald Trump’s granddaughter, 18-year-old Kai Trump, decided to answer what most would think is a rather unassuming question for a lot of young adults. Not her, though.
The video posted to her TikTok starts with Kai reading a question from a follower on her phone. As part of an ‘Ask Me Anything’ question series that many influencers take part in, she was asked, “Where do you see yourself in five years?” Without even thinking, she had an answer.
Kai shared that, “In five years, hopefully I’ll be graduating from college, then, and I can really see myself hopefully being on the LPGA tour playing professional golf.” She went on to share that she likely hopes to keep her career as an influencer going because she also wants to work at “maintaining [her] socials and create [her] own brand, as well.”
She also couldn’t help but tease that she has some things in the works right now that she has to stay mute about for the moment. She shared, “I’m working on something now. Can’t really say a whole lot, but there are going to be big things in the future.”
Are we all sitting on the edge of our seats? Probably not.
Considering the current state of the world, many people were less than impressed with this answer.
If you head to the comments section on this TikTok video, you are quickly going to get a feel for how this type of answer came across to the general public, since we are in the middle of a super intense political climate, in large part brought on by her grandfather.
One person did not hold back in the comments, writing, “Tell grandpa to stop it’s actually getting sad tbh.” This person could be referring to so many things that Donald Trump has been up to, including the utter turmoil happening in the Middle East.
Another person commented that she should “join the military NOW!” This is an interesting take, especially given her grandfather’s automatic military draft registration, which is supposed to start in December 2026, per ABC 7 News.
From some of these comments, we’re getting the sense that some people are finding Kai’s answers to be quite tone deaf and coming from a place with an insane amount of privilege. It’s just really off-putting.
This isn’t the first time Kai has been dragged on social media.
The internet has often not been on Kai’s side, and honestly, we get it. She certainly doesn’t make it easy.
When she shared a video on TikTok in early April 2026 of her lip-syncing and dancing to ABBA with the overall message of looking for a boyfriend, some couldn’t take the irony. One person reposted Kai’s video to X with the caption, “Instead of Kai Trump posting about looking for a man… perhaps she should be looking to enlist to fight in Iran. Just saying…” Okay, how much do we not see that happening? But it sure feels nice when someone says it in a public forum!
Even back in January 2026, when she posted a photo on Instagram of herself watching the College National Championships alongside none other than Donald Trump and fellow polarizing influencer, Jake Paul, a lot of people were less than impressed. One person in the comments totally killed it with this one-liner: “All the world’s problems in one room.” Bingo!
The only thing we can hope for is that Kai starts to see some of these comments on her social media and takes a good, long look at herself. We’re not holding our breath, though.
