TV Presenter Under Fire for Insensitive Comments About Kate Middleton’s Appearance

A television presenter is under a whole lot of scrutiny after making some pretty insensitive remarks about the Princess of Wales. Narinder Kaur, a panelist on Good Morning Britain, made the comments about Kate Middleton’s appearance in a post on November 10, 2024. After reposting an article shared by the Daily Mail about Kate Middleton attending a Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph, the former Big Brother star picked on how Kate is aging.

Here's what she said.

Though the tweet seems to have been deleted, screenshots of it are still circulating. In it, Narinder shared a curiosity. “Genuine question- why has Kate aged so much? Isn’t she only 42?” the 52-year-old presenter questioned. “Is she a smoker? It’s the only explanation.” And of course, the backlash instantly came rolling in.

People were appalled by the comments.

“This is the Most reprehensible attack on a woman battling cancer imaginable,” one person wrote. “Heartless and vile comment,” another person shared. “And misses the point that Princess of Wales is attending a solemn service of remembrance, not a garden party. Of course she wouldn’t be smiling and dancing.”

Narinder clapped back at many of the comments.

The commentator did not hesitate to clap back at people’s comments toward her for most of the day. One person told Narinder, “I hope you look better than that when you get cancer.” Coming to her own defense, she replied, “That’s disgusting. It was a genuine ask. My brother had cancer and died. He didn’t age. Why be so despicable?”

She went on in other tweets to complain about the kind of hate she’d received through comments made toward her. “I’ve been attacked so viciously. Racist disgusting mysgony,” she said. “They weren’t bothered about Kate! They wanted ANY excuse to attack me. Any.”

She believes she was verbally attacked because of her skin color.

“I’m going to say this very carefully. Just because im brown doesn’t mean I can’t or won’t have an opinion. All I asked was why Kate had aged so much. That is all. It wasn’t bad. You know it,” she wrote. “It most certainly DID NOT WARRANT the tsunami of hatred and racial abuse these past few hours. Hang your heads in shame! You used Kates pre cancer to abuse me. Violently. I’ve said sorry if asking about ageing was upsetting for you. I expect all your apologies reciprocated back… .”

She eventually released a video statement.

“I put out a stupid tweet. That wasn’t my intention, my intention was not to be malicious or nasty or anything. I’m not like that, anybody who knows me. It was stupid to ask about the aging. I’ve admitted that, I’ve put my hands up and apologized if it caused offense,” Narinder said in part.

She then suggested that people made her comments about race by pitting Kate against Meghan Markle. “A lot of the comments were all about Meghan Markle. What’s Meghan got to do with it? You exposed your narrative. You exposed that what this was all about was I, as a brown woman, an Indian, had the gall to criticize Kate’s appearance,” she said.

In conclusion, Narinder made sure people knew she didn’t intend to go hide away. “I’m not going anywhere. I’m not leaving the country. I’m gonna continue,” she vowed. “You can keep cancelling me as much as you like, but you will not silence my voice just because I’m a brown woman, and it is that, and you will never convince me otherwise.”
