Whitney Purvis Blames Her Ex for Their Son’s Death, Says It ‘Could’ve Been Prevented’

Whitney Purvis has shared some disturbing new details about her ex’s parenting decisions. The allegations come shortly after the 16 and Pregnant alum accused her ex, Weston Lewis Gosa Sr., of barring her from their late son’s funeral. The former couple’s son, Weston Gosa Jr., died at age 16 on June 2. An official cause of death has not been confirmed.

Whitney said her son didn’t have health insurance.

In a Facebook post, Whitney revealed that she has unanswered questions about her son’s death. The 33-year-old mom wrote that her late son had diabetes, Addison’s disease, and alpha one anti-trypsin deficiency, but allegedly did not have health insurance while in his dad’s care.

Because of this, Whitney believes that her son’s death could’ve been prevented. She said she confronted Weston Sr. about their son’s lack of medical insurance.

“His death could’ve been prevented,” Whitney wrote. “He should have had a Dexcom/glucose monitor that alerted when his sugar was going up or down to a dangerous level. In our custody order, [Weston Sr.] was supposed to have medical insurance on our kids; that was part of our agreement. That just doesn’t sit right with me, and I brought this up to him a few days before the funeral, and he got mad, thinking I was accusing him of neglect, but I just wanted to understand.”

But he did have a life insurance policy, according to Whitney.

In the same post, Whitney questioned why her ex seemingly couldn’t afford health insurance when he allegedly “brags about how much money he has.” According to her, Weston Sr. has purchased five cars in the past six months. Additionally, Whitney claimed that while her son had no health insurance, he “had a life insurance policy taken out on him.”

The exes have been arguing ever since their son’s funeral.

Whitney and Weston Sr. didn’t have a good relationship even prior to their son’s death, but a disagreement over their son’s funeral has made it even worse. Weston Sr. and his current partner have claimed that they invited Whitney to the funeral and told her what time it would start, but she was late for the funeral service and then not allowed in.

Meanwhile, Whitney denied these claims and accused her ex of not letting her attend. According to her, Weston Sr. and his partner told her that the funeral would start at 4 p.m. but it actually started earlier. “They tried to spin it around and say I was 2 hours late to his funeral and i knew it was at two,” she claimed. “Like come the hell on, I would never!! Use your brain! Who would come 2 hrs late.”

She has described her ex as “evil” for not letting her say goodbye to her son. “If he was a decent person, he could’ve made sure I at least got to say my goodbyes to him,” Whitney wrote in a Facebook post. “I begged him to do something.”

Whitney also said that Weston Sr. has been ignoring her messages. “He needed my signature to cremate Weston, he has no problem taking child support from me, but yet he says I’m not his mother,” she added.
