The tension between Prince William and Prince Harry doesn’t seem to be easing up. During his recent BBC interview, the Duke of Sussex said he “would love reconciliation” with his family. However, the interview seemed to make reconciliation even less likely, as it reportedly left other members of the royal family feeling “hurt and betrayed.” At this point, Prince William and Kate Middleton seem to be avoiding conversations about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, according to a new report.
Conversations about Harry and Meghan are essentially ‘banned.’
It sounds like the Prince and Princess of Wales are trying to keep their home environment as stress-free as possible — which means they don’t talk about Harry or Meghan, a source recently told Us Weekly. Per the source, William and Kate are aiming for “a less stressful environment,” which means “not giving” Harry or Meghan “the time of day.” Ouch.
Kate doesn’t want to hear about Meghan.
The insider went on to suggest that tension still lingers between Kate and Meghan. “No one on the staff can mention Meghan’s name to Kate right now, her name is basically banned because of the stress around it,” the source claimed.
Meghan is not fully to blame though. Part of the reason they’re reportedly so upset is because Harry can’t seem to “stay quiet.” If Harry is aiming for reconciliation, “the first step is to stop talking to the public about private matters,” the insider added.
Speaking to BBC earlier this month, Prince Harry said, “There have been so many disagreements between myself and some of my family.” At the same time, he said that since “life is precious” he doesn’t feel like the feud needs to carry on any longer than it already has.
He also revealed that his father, King Charles, “won’t speak to” him, which is unfortunate because he does “not know how much longer my father has.”
Harry’s recent interview seemed to impact his popularity in the UK.
According to a recent YouGov poll, William and Kate were not the only ones who had an issue with Harry’s BBC interview. The poll found that Harry is pretty unpopular in the United Kingdom right now, with only 27% of people having a positive opinion of him. Meanwhile, 63% of people said they had a negative perception of Harry. Daily Mail reported that this is Harry’s lowest favorability rating since 2023.
Meghan is less popular than ever.
The same YouGov survey found that Meghan’s recent rebrand has not helped her win people over in the UK. According to a YouGov press release, Meghan’s popularity “is at its lowest point since it started being tracked in 2017.” Just 20% of people said they had a favorable opinion, while 65% of people reported having a negative opinion of her.
