‘With Love, Meghan’ Crew Members Share What it Was Really Like Working With Meghan Markle

It hasn’t even been a week since Meghan Markle‘s Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, hit the streaming service, and it’s already been renewed for a second season. Despite some mixed reviews, the show seems to have found its audience, and according to what those who worked on the series told People, it sounds like the crew is looking forward to having the chance to work with the Duchess of Sussex again.

There have been plenty of rumors that Meghan is difficult to work with that have circulated in the past, but it doesn’t seem as if this was the experience of those who worked on the show at all, including director Michael Steed.

“It was unexpected, but I embraced it … it was a lot of fun,” he told People. “I was always going to be the point of conversation, so she had someone to talk to at all times and make it more conversational and comfortable. But it certainly evolved to where the cameras turned towards me.”

He added that Meghan had no problem creating a “really tight” bond with the crew very quickly, either – though she was still willing to get down to business and work. “Everyone has their own version of her, but she’s just someone who’s constantly hustling and working,” he told the magazine. “I really wanted to create an environment where she could relax, especially given the pressures she faces daily. I’m glad we could create moments where she could tap into a different side of herself.”

Meanwhile, another crew member shared that Meghan was full of surprises for everyone who worked on the set on a daily basis, providing coffee carts, ice cream carts, and even a shaved ice truck on a hot day.

And as far as her family goes? The crew member added that her relationship with husband Prince Harry and her kids is the real deal – from what they witnessed, at least.

“Whenever Harry visited set, he was always super polite and friendly. But it was clear he wanted this to be Meghan’s moment to shine,” the source said, adding that she was “super attentive and doting” when Archie and Lili came to set.

Chef Roy Choi, who appeared on the show, went so far as to compliment Meghan’s genuine personality by calling her “Meghan from the block.”

“She’s the Duchess of Sussex, but before that she was Meghan from L.A., from Immaculate Heart High School. I could see the genuineness in her, like before her whole life changed,” he said.

On Friday, just two days after the series hit Netflix, the streamer announced that With Love, Meghan has been renewed for a second season, which is due to premiere this fall.

Fingers crossed we’ll see more from Prince Harry this time around. It would definitely be interesting to see his dynamic with his wife when they’re cooking together!
