Bethenny Frankel's Skinny Girl Margarita Mix is a godsend to those of us who love margaritas but also try to keep an eye on our waistlines.
It couldn't be simpler to make — just pour bottled mix over a tumbler filled with ice — and at only 100 calories per 4-oz. serving, it's okay if you decide to have more than one.
But when you're out and about and the mix just isn't available at the bar or restaurant you're frequenting? Never fear: Here's how to tell the bartender to make a Skinny Girl Margarita.
Even before she was marketing her official mix, Bethenny was ordering Skinny Girl Margaritas from bartenders in New York City (or do you not remember the first season of The Real Housewives of New York?).
The concept's brilliance lies in its simplicity: It omits the sweet and sour mix and/or margarita mix that are typically used in margaritas and that also happen to be loaded with high fructose corn syrup, dyes, and calories. What you're left with is a pared-down classic recipe that tastes just as good as the doctored-up sugary version:
Skinny Girl Margarita
- 2 oz. tequila
- Fresh squeezed lime juice from 1 to 2 limes
- Splash of orange-flavored liquor (Grand Marnier, Cointreau, or Triple Sec)
Serve over ice with a rim of salt (optional).
What's your favorite kind of margarita?
