While it would be incredibly difficult to imagine living in a home as lovely and stately as the White House, it looks like our outgoing president and the first lady are still going to be sitting pretty. Barack and Michelle Obama will reportedly rent a tony Tudor in an elegant Washington enclave. And once you see the photos of this nine-bedroom stunner, you may find yourself asking if you can move in with them.
From the gourmet kitchen, complete with a butler's pantry, to the gorgeous grounds, there's plenty to love when it comes to this home located in DC's Kalorama neighborhood. The residence boasts 8,200 finished-to-perfection square feet.
Prepare to swoon over their stately new home.
UPDATE: On June 1, 2017, Zillow Porchlight reported that Barack and Michelle Obama purchased their rental home for $8.1M. The Chicago Sun-Times quoted the Obamas' spokesperson Kevin Lewis on their decision:
"Given that President and Mrs. Obama will be in Washington for at least another two and a half years, it made sense for them to buy a home rather than continuing to rent property.”
Another source close to the family stated that they will still own their Chicago home as well.
Not the White House, but...
Talk about curb appeal! This home was built in the 1920s but underwent a renovation in 2011, offering the owners old-fashioned charm coupled with modern amenities.
