Every year, Pantone announces a color of the year to hopefully set the tone and style of trends to come. And while in the past plenty of gorgeous shades were named, the upcoming 2018 color has people excited in a way they haven't been for a long time. "Ultra Violet" is taking over the next year in a big way, so why not start the new year off with a bold new hairstyle? According to Pantone, the color is meant to evoke hope and to help people turn to the future with a vibrant, inquisitive, and creative eye.
As Pantone says:
"Complex and contemplative, Ultra Violet suggests the mysteries of the cosmos, the intrigue of what lies ahead, and the discoveries beyond where we are now. The vast and limitless night sky is symbolic of what is possible and continues to inspire the desire to pursue a world beyond our own."
Historically, purple in general has long been a color associated with wealth and royalty. It has since been adopted to take on a rather spiritual meaning while having mystical and mindful emotions attached to it.
