Everything You Can Score Under $40 from Walmart to Create a Backyard Oasis

Backyards are places associated with many things: barbecues, family games, kids games (and sandboxes), the whole nine yards. Sure, there might be a grill and tables and chairs, but it still probably feels like a backyard, right? Few people realize it's incredibly easy, and affordable, to transform the space into an calm and useful oasis. All it takes is some planning — and appropriate furniture and accessories — to get the job done. And to do so, to have a space that feels like going on vacation just by stepping outside, is invaluable. It's just a matter of proper design and decor choices that match the goal vibe, whether that's Bora Bora or simply "summer." Now, the question is, can be it done on the cheap? The answer is "yes."

The thing about transforming a space is that it just takes a few pieces, or even a rug, to being a space together or make it feel tropical. Even if there's also seating available out there, that's OK! The trick is to ramp up the oasis game with tiny touches. And with Walmart's selection of outdoor furniture and accessories it's possible to make it happen not only cheaply, but under $40. We took the hard work out of it, but rounding up the items we think will turn a plain-old-backyard into a haven of relaxation and comfort.

String LED lights can add a fairy tale vibe, a few throw pillows will add a pop of color and luxury. Seating can be inexpensive, too, and comfortable with the ones we have below. Even the concept of tiki torches get an upgrade with a splash of color and table-top design. Even hanging swings can make a big difference — how peaceful to sit and rock with a drink or book in hand? The answer: Super peaceful. Get started by checking out the choices below.
