If there's one thing that last year has taught us, it's that Beautyblender is capable of creating a whole lot more than sponges. Since 2018, the brand has expanded into complexion products, including (controversial) foundations and a setting spray.
Now there's one more major product joining the ranks: primer — four, in fact. And while one might yawn at the launch of such a basic product, trust us, these aren't your average primers. The formula is like nothing we've ever experienced, and the consistency is "oddly satisfying."

For weeks, Beautyblender has been teasing #AceYourBase to let us know that something big was coming.
"All. About. That. Base. {4 new products, 3 game-changing formulas — details coming soon} #AceYourBase," the brand shared. Many speculated that maybe it was a concealer launch or another fun complexion product.
Trend Mood also posted a teaser to Instagram of some never-before-seen products from Beautyblender.
"More #SneakPeeks ???????????? #SEPHORA !! ✨☀️???? This is what we are going to see soon on our vanities #Spring2019 – #Summer2019 : @beautyblender ???????????????? NEW! Line of Primers!!," the account wrote. Comments went wild, and fans looked forward to another chance to make their makeup last all day.
The mystery product? Face primer!
Four new primers with three different formulas have found their way into the Beautyblender family. The launch comes just one month after the shade expansion of Bounce Foundation (the first release was criticized for its minimal deep shades). Now that 40 skin tones are accounted for, these primers are coming at just the right time.
And while primers usually aren't exciting, the innovative formulas set these apart from the pack.
According to Trend Mood, the formulas are as follows:
"1. Selfie Shield: dry oil primer board spectrum SPF 38. Invisible, quick absorbing, helps both protect and prep skin for makeup. The ultra-light dry oil sinks in and blends with no greasiness or chalky cast, no matter your skin tone. A group of celebrity makeup artists were brought together by the brand to give their unfiltered and honest opinions of the new launch, and their reviews were impressive. "It melts right into the skin," said one artist. "So everybody should wear this," another said.
This isn't Beautyblender's first setting product.
The Re-Dew Set & Refresh Spray launched the day after Christmas and has been the source of effortless glows ever since. The two-phase solution plumps and hydrates skin with birch extract and hyaluronic acid; it nourishes and soothes with skin-cocooning silk extract and probiotics.
This is the fourth product the brand has ever released.
The primers are joining the lineup of signature sponges, foundations, and setting sprays. Looks like Beautyblender keeps its products in great company.
Some are critical of the two-toned primers, but it looks like Beautyblender might have gotten the hint.
