ColourPop Fans Found Holes And Hair In Their Lipsticks Too, So What The Heck

It looks like Jaclyn Hill Cosmetics isn't the only brand with faulty lipsticks, according to a few ColourPop fans. Jaclyn Hill has spent the better part of the past month troubleshooting and doing damage control over lipsticks that she admitted were launched too fast. After several days of internet backlash, the influencer fully owned up to the "black dots" (oxygen holes, she explained), hair-like fibers (from gloves, she reasoned), and melting (dang mailing trucks!) issues.

Now ColourPop fans are side-eyeing their favorite fast makeup brand because, yup, they're spotting black dots and hair-like fibers in their lipsticks too! Gah, we might just have to stick to lip gloss until further notice because this lipstick situation is doing way too much.

Jaclyn Hill Cosmetics has been getting dragged from one end of the internet to the other for almost a solid month.

The brand's fans first reported all kinds of things in the lipsticks that shouldn't be there, like plastic balls, hair-like fibers, black dots, and other things that made the lipsticks feel gritty like a scrub. Additionally, fans had concerns about shipping issues and the overall responsiveness of the brand. Things snowballed quickly, and within two weeks of the launch, Jaclyn Hill Cosmetics' shoppers were reporting swelling and breakouts from the lipsticks. In short, the first Jaclyn Hill Cosmetics launch was a complete trash fire and it was so unfortunate.

But now it looks like Jaclyn Hill isn't the only brand serving up a questionable batch of lipsticks.

ColourPop fans are seeing the hairs and holes in their lipsticks too.

One person claims to have found hair in their ColourPop lipsticks from two different collections!

"Well…. I’ve found the same black dots and some ‘hair’ in all four of my ColourPop lipsticks (two from the Disney Princess collection and two from the Villains collection) …cool," the fan wrote.

Grrr. What the heck is really going on in these labs? Hair lipstick is definitely NOT a trendy new formula that the people are dying to try.

So what gives with these faulty lipsticks?!

"After seeing someone talk about their @ColourPopCo Disney collection lipsticks I decided to inspect my unopened ones. So, [are] we only going to crucify @jaclyncosmetics ? Cuz SAME ISSUES," a person shared.

Whew! The holes are definitely on full display in the lipsticks shown in the photo. Those hairs are also barely there, but I can definitely see them.

One fan specifically bought the ColourPop lipsticks as dupes of the Jaclyn Hill Cosmetics shades.

The fan wants to know if the lipstick issues are somehow connected. Let's actually hope that is not the case.

"@ColourPopCo @jaclyncosmetics Are y’all in cahoots together? These are unused, unopened Colourpop lipsticks I decided to finally play with after seeing the dupes that Dupethat posted on IG. I can't," the fan wrote.

The fan also noted that ColourPop reached out to her and offered a refund for the lipsticks.

People who used the ColourPop lipsticks are also feeling the same gritty texture that Jaclyn Hill Cosmetics was dragged for.

"My ColourPop lippie felt grainy today. I thought I was going crazy but then I looked at it and saw the same little bumps from the JH lippies," a fan shared.

Yikes. Freaking yikes. Grainy lipstick is so not the vibe.

Another fan wants the FDA to get involved.

"There's a hair in my brand new ColourPop lipstick. I'm calling the FDA," a customer wrote. As you might recall, fans wanted the FDA to get involved with the Jaclyn Hill Cosmetics lipstick situation after they felt her brand was too slow to respond to fans' inquiries about the lipstick.

Now it looks like fans want the FDA to get involved with anything they feel is off with their makeup, and you know what? I don't blame them.

Fans also think it's very interesting that the ColourPop brand has exact dupes of the Jaclyn Hill lipsticks.

The DupeThat Instagram page is known for providing affordable alternatives for basically all new makeup that hits the market. Of course, it seemed to make perfect sense to turn to ColourPop when Jaclyn Hill Cosmetics lipstickgate happened. Nude lipsticks are the easiest to dupe. Fans were happy for alternatives, but now they're super skeptical since the lipsticks seem like exact matches and both brands have the same quality issues.

People are questioning whether or not ColourPop and Jaclyn Hill Cosmetics are connected on the manufacturing side.

"Kinda suspicious that they are basically exact matches. Kind of like color pop and Kylie. I wonder if it’s basically color pop lipsticks jacked up in price," one person wrote.

It is a fact that Kylie Cosmetics and ColourPop are manufactured by the same company. People have wondered for years if Kylie Jenner merely sells a marked-up version of the same ColourPop products. However, that has never been confirmed.

Despite Jaclyn Hill Cosmetics and ColourPop having similar lipstick issues, critics are still adamant that Jaclyn Hill deserved the backlash.

People have not forgotten how Jaclyn Hill initially handled the feedback she received about her lipsticks. Although she eventually fell on her sword, her first response to customers' concerns was to criticize them instead of admitting fault. When the backlash grew, so did Hill's humility. She has since apologized to the specific fans she was rude to, and her entire brand has announced a mass refund process to take place in the near future. Still, fans aren't overly angry with ColourPop because they feel the brand would just handle the situation well in the first place without all the backtracking.

"I don’t think it’s the quality more than it’s the way it’s been handled. Email @ColourPopCo and I bet you’ll get an answer quickly," one person shared. "Email @jaclyncosmetics and it’s like playing chicken for three weeks. Absolutely disgusting customer service. Nothing done until her hand was forced."

Welp! Let's hope that ColourPop and Jaclyn Hill Cosmetics are able to produce better batches of lipstick in the future. In the meantime, I'm doing Fenty Beauty gloss to be on the safe side, K?
