Kat Von D, controversial as she is, is pretty dang good at eyeliner. Myself, on the other hand, not so much. Still, when she released her new Trooper Eyeliner Obsession kit, I knew I had to give it a go.
Full transparency: I don't wear liner often. But when I do, I need something easy that allows for easy precision. My hand-eye coordination just isn't there when it comes to eyeliner, but that hasn't changed my desire for the perfect cat eye. So what better way to learn than with a kit from the leader of the cat eyes herself?
I tried all five Kat Von D eyeliners, and my choice is clear as day. Now eyeliner application is actually enjoyable.
Testing all five of Kat Von D's eyeliners took a lot of time and even more patience, but here's an eyeliner newbie's ranking in order from least to most favorite.

This one is my least favorite, mostly because I'm no professional. I've never been a fan of brush applicators like this one because they require a much steadier hand.

To me, the applicator is too loose — you damn near have to be Picasso to perfect a line with it. And this formula stays put until you take an oil-based remover to it, so when you screw up, you really screw up.
As you can see, I botched this wing. Maybe I'll have better luck after some more practice.
Ink Liner isn't too bad for a novice, but it goes on very light and requires a few coats. Additionally, this brush isn't as firm, so a bit of skill is required. However, I think I made it work.

Lash Liner isn't designed for a cat eye, but it's shockingly pretty good for just that. If drama is your thing, use this one.

The color payoff is the best out of all of the Kat Von D Beauty eyeliners, but the unconventional brush, which is designed for inner lash lines, is not great for sharp lines.
A close second, Dagger Liner's slanted applicator makes "winging it" pretty easy. I also love that the color goes on black AF, just like I like it. Go big or go home right?

I'll go out on a whim and say that this is the best liner I've ever tried. The original Tattoo Liner makes for the easiest application, hands down. There's a reason it's won every award eyeliner could possibly win.

It glides on effortlessly and is the only one that doesn't require my using two hands to perfect the wing. I'm obsessed, and the color is so bold.
As a liner beginner, I give the Kat Von D eyeliner bundle a strong nine out of ten.

I really can't think of a better deal for both liner experts and people who want to get better at eyeliner in the new year. There is literally a liner for EVERYONE at every skill level.
Don't believe me? Check out the bundle for yourself and let us know what your favorite is.
