World’s Worst Tinder Date Fat Shamed A woman, But She Had The Last Laugh

Dating is hard regardless of size and shape, but it's infinitely harder as a plus-size woman. The simple act of swiping right can open your body up to criticism, shaming, and downright violent hatred.

One Tinder user unfortunately learned this the hard way after getting fat shamed right before a date.

Ruthie Fonseca matched with a man named Michael on Tinder in mid-January.

"Right off the bat I was excited, cause he was gorgeous, with the kind of smile that will make any girl weak at the knees," she wrote on her blog. "Even better he actually messaged me first!"

After a few days of texting and trying to set up a date, Fonseca made plans to meet up at a bar with Michael late one evening.

A few hours before the date, Michael sent a mirror selfie he took at work, and asked Fonseca to send a full-body shot of herself, too.

"This should have been the moment that I bowed out, as it immediately seemed fishy to me," she wrote. "Why would he need a full body pic of me if there are plenty on my dating profile? But hesitantly I sent one back and his response was 'Nice and Curvy,' not bad right?"

However, things quickly turned south when Michael abruptly had to cancel the date.

When he canceled the date 20 minutes before the two were supposed to meet, Fonseca lashed out, and rightfully so.

While she acknowledges some might think her response was "a little harsh," she explained that if he truly wasn't feeling well, he would've known earlier. Additionally, she suspected that if she didn't text him letting him know she was on her way, he might not have texted her letting her know he wasn't going to show up at all.

Michael then dropped the "real" reason he canceled on their date:

What a dumpster fire human being.

She then received a barrage of texts from a different number.

While the troll obviously intended to hurt Fonseca because she wasn't willing to put up with his bullshit, she certainly didn't let him have the last laugh.

"When I read this text I actually laughed out loud, because for someone that 'doesn’t want to be seen with me' he sure did take offense to my text putting him in his place for canceling on me," she wrote. "His words towards me say absolutely nothing about me, but say the world about him. The fact that any person would have the audacity to speak to another human being that way is baffling."

"I know I am not a size zero," Fonseca exclaimed.

"However I am in no way, shape or form, ashamed of my size," she continued. "And I happen to believe I am one hot piece of ass, but more importantly, one hell of a catch."

Preach, girl, PREACH. Karma will have a real fun time with Michael, that's for sure.
