Think you don't like beer?
Think again. You probably just haven't met *the one* yet.
Today, I consider myself a lover of all things craft beer, but two years ago I couldn't identify a single beer I liked.
If that sounds like you, all hope is not yet lost. You too can find a beer you like — and here are six to start with.
Allagash White (Allagash)
Alc. by volume: 5%
This is my go-to wheat beer, no question. Brewed with orange and spices like coriander, this is a great, medium-bodied beer that pairs well with almost anything. It's barely hoppy at all, and packs a lot of flavor. Bud Light… who?
Prima Pils (Victory)
Alc. by volume: 5.3%
Pilsners are one of the lightest, crispest, most refreshing beer styles around, and Victory makes one that is super palatable, super delicious, and super can't-stop-at-just one. Give it a go and you'll see what I mean.
Chimay Blue (Chimay)
Alc. by volume: 9%
At 9%, this is not a beer for the faint of heart (or light of weight), but it is dark and raisiny and everything you could ever hope for in a Belgian dubbel-style ale. This was the beer that first got me into beer, in fact, so I put a lot of faith in Chimay Blue. If you're already into lighter beers but not into dark ones, this WILL be your gateway.
60 Minute (Dogfish Head)
Alc. by volume: 6%
IPA haters, meet Dogfish Head's 60 Minute IPA. The 60 Minute — so named because the beer is continuously hopped for 60 minutes straight — actually isn't overwhelmingly hoppy though; it's got a pleasant citrus profile and a mouthful of flavor that just might change your mind about IPAs altogether.
Founders Porter (Founders)
Alc. by volume: 6.5%
Founders Porter (by Founders Brewing Co., natch) is one of the lightest, most drinkable porters I've ever had the pleasure of putting in my mouth hole. It's velvety and roasty and all things wonderful — I come back to this beer time and time again, even in summer.
Milk Stout (Left Hand)
Alc. by volume: 6%
Left Hand's Milk Stout is lighter-bodied than your typical stout, so if Guinness isn't your cup of tea, maybe this one is. Left Hand also brews this beer on nitro (i.e., nitrogen instead of carbon dioxide), which gives it finer bubbles and a smoother finish, so it's creamy and dee-licious.
