James Charles is known for his makeup skills, not his sex life. But that did not stop an alleged sex tape from making its way around social media. Charles ended up having to make three different posts on Twitter this week to clarify that whoever stars in the quickly spreading video is definitely not him.
To really drive his point home, he declared something that most of his fans already knew, but it was still shocking to hear: Charles is a virgin. So if you've seen videos around the internet of someone who looks like him engaging in some very NSFW activities, don't get ahead of yourself.
Rumors started swirling this week that a James Charles sex tape had found its way onto the internet.
YouTuber and beauty influencer James Charles had to defend himself against rumors of a sex tape. Fans across Twitter and Instagram are claiming they've seen a video of Charles in a less than modest position.
Curious fans on Twitter immediately began asking around for links to this supposed video.
For whatever reason, people are asking around to see the tape. Most of them immediately regret it. But we're curious if there's even a tape at all and if these people are just seeking attention.
Charles had to come to his own defense and tell people there's no way it could be him, because he's still a virgin.
Charles laughed off the situation in a tweet: "Apparently my sex tape is going around!!??? this is exciting news to me considering i'm still very much a virgin lol," he wrote.
More than a few fans aren't buying that, though, thanks to Charles' long history of tweeting sexual stuff like this:
Charles might very well be a virgin, and we believe him when he says he is, but it's fair that fans deny this claim. He did tweet, "All I want for christmas is a good dick to suck tbh," after all.
The sex tape allegations kept swarming for a week after that, so he followed up by tweeting out his message again.
Fans didn't seem to get the hint the first time, and the alleged video is still spreading about a week later. Charles retweeted his first statement to clarify: "Bringing this back because apparently it’s going around again lol," he wrote.
Shortly thereafter he came back to defend himself a third time.
I don't know how many times you have to say that you don't have a sex tape before people believe you. Charles went back to Twitter to add a little more information. He doesn't have a sex tape, BUT if he did, he'd be charging you for it. Truly a businessman.
What's alarming is that a lot of Charles' fans and trolls think the sex tape is legitimate.
I don't see why, because the whole thing seems fake, but OK. This fan wrote that Charles is "so disgusting" after the leak.
"@jamescharles you’re so disgusting, putting out a sex tape of you on pornhub. Like I lost all my respect for you. I just can’t stand looking at you or mention your name. You just disgusting."
How can anyone even tell that's Charles in the video?
People who have seen the video aren't sure how anyone can say Charles is in it. Some people say the faces are too blurred or cut off, so people are only assuming who's in the tape based on body types.
I have yet to see James Charles naked, and unless you have, there's no way you can say it's him for sure.
This whole sex tape scandal happened right after his meet-and-greet travesty in Birmingham, Alabama.
James Charles recently held a meet and greet in Birmingham that quickly got out of hand. His appearance in Birmingham's Ring shopping center attracted 8,000 fans and brought the center to a "standstill." He allegedly caused extreme traffic, and his appearance "created a scene of absolute mayhem and chaos."
James Charles is no stranger to controversy. He faced lots of backlash after he made comments about the Ebola virus.
James Charles made a joke about Ebola during a trip to Africa, and Twitter dragged him. When he was called out for it, he didn't even apologize.
Fans were even more upset that he wouldn't apologize for the tweet.
Many fans said that they wouldn't support him after that tweet, and instead of apologizing, he just blocked people: "Block and move on james just block and move on," he wrote.
So when he actually did apologize, nobody cared.
James tweeted that he was "extremely sorry" for the Ebola tweet, but he was probably just upset he got dragged.
"I am extremely sorry. Regardless of my intentions, words have consequences. I take full responsibility and will learn and do better."
Eventually, he admitted his apology wasn't genuine.
Charles tweeted an even longer apology after the first one, stating that he'd been told what to write: "I was told what to say and that's not how an apology should work."
He might've deserved backlash for that scandal — but this faux sex tape? Totally uncalled for.
Charles did a Q&A with Vogue where he was asked 73 questions. When he was asked which "scandal he deserved the most," it was the Ebola one. He says his least deserved was "Flashback Mary." This new rumor might've just topped that.
