Jeffree Star made makeup brushes more than a year ago, but they never came out

Love him or hate him, you can't deny that Jeffree Star is an effective business person. He knows what makes a good product teaser, and you can always trust that if he shows the public a new creation, it'll be on the market within the next month or two.

But there is one strange exception to that rule: the case of Jeffree Star's long lost collaboration with Morphe Brushes.

Uh, yeah. Jeffree Star made an entire collection with Morphe once. Surprised? That's because it never saw the light of day.

In May 2016, Star announced in a makeup tutorial that he had created a line of chrome, baby-pink makeup brushes with the brand.

Star only ever revealed a handful of the collection's 10 brushes, which appeared to match Star's latest summer collection to a T.

He pulled out all his regular stops for the collection by teasing them on ALL of his social media accounts.

The evidence that this collection existed at all is still out there, by the way. He never deleted any of this content.

Both Star and Morphe urged fans to "stay tuned." That was the first and last time the brushes were ever seen or alluded to.

And more than a year later, fans are STILL demanding to know what happened to them.

If the brand or Star ever explained why the collection was never released, there is no record of it on either Twitter or Instagram.

So, how the fuck does an entire influencer collaboration just fall off the face of the planet? The internet has two main theories.

Important aside: Neither of these theories are verifiable and are merely rumors circulating around the internet's beauty communities.

The first theory is directly tied to Star's public breakup with Kat Von D, which occurred about a month and a half after the initial reveal.

Before the most infamous beauty brawl of all time took place, now-viral footage from MySpace of Star making threats towards Black and Mexican women flew well under the radar. But after Von D alluded to Star's racism in her breakup post, the footage got blasted across the internet and still follows Star to this day.

YouTube's self-designated beauty investigators theorize that Morphe held back on this collaboration after realizing the extent of Star's controversies. By this line of thought, Morphe merely hid the stock of brushes and waited for a time at which Star's name wasn't so closely associated with racism. That never happened, so neither did the collection launch.

This theory makes a lot of damn sense, but there's one problem: Morphe and Star are still very much in cahoots, publicly so. Morphe is one of Jeffree Star Cosmetics' official retailers. So.

The second, which seems like an extreme reach, claims that the brush collection's delay is all Jaclyn Hill's fault.

This second theory originates from a YouTuber who claims to have "inside sources" at Morphe, who allegedly disclosed to him that Hill wanted her eye shadow palette to be the brand's frontrunner for sales in 2017 — and that she didn't want to compete with Star.

Speculations about this theory have increased significantly this week due to Star's alleged falling out with Hill. That being said, "drama channels" on YouTube aren't always accurate, and the information they release should be taken with a grain of salt.

Are either of these theories even remotely correct? Will this brush collection ever launch? Why are both parties staying so quiet? Was this all a dream?

One thing is certain: Star's fans won't stop until they get answers.
