‘Jelly Shoes’ Are Back and They’re Nothing Like How You Remember Them

I remember walking into Boscov's in 1996 when I saw them. They were pink, sparkly, and looked like my Barbie shoes tripled in size just for my feet. Of course, I am talking about what we affectionately know as "jelly shoes," a '90's staple that made you feel cooler than cool, and moms everywhere were thrilled they were like $7 a pop.

I eventually grew out of the shoes, literally and figuratively, but TBH nothing has felt quite like summer as it once did when my little sweaty toes were sliding around in those classic kicks. And now our kids are luckily getting to get that experience too … only theere have been some vast improvements.

All over Etsy, these 1990's classics are making a triumphant return.

Only now, they are 100% cuter, and I would wear them literally everywhere if they came in sizes that fit adults. These soft shoes are perfect for playful little feet as children romp about in search of spring and summer adventures.

The newest modern version of the shoe is available from different sellers and comes in an array of cute colors.

I particularly love the Clay and Blush colors and have fantasized about how I'd style them were they to ever fit my size 11 womanly feet. I mean, just look at that adorable weaving! Bask in the Instagram-approved palette!

Honestly, if youi're getting this for your kids, keep them away from me. I may steal them.

OK — since they are only available in toddler to kid sizes, I won't, but I'll be thinking about it.

Although they aren't exactly like the adorable toddler version, I did find these super cute adult sandals that are technically jellies.

Available in sizes 5 to 11 womens, these shoes are pretty cute for a casual night out or running errands. They are detailed with thiny rhinestones (which honestly aren't my thing) but they are super cute if you like a little shine with your outfit.

In the meantime, I'm just happy kids today get to experience the freedom and cuteness of jelly shoes (even if I'm still mad jealous).
