A few months back when Lime Crime announced Bushy Brow, its first-ever range of eyebrow gels and pens, I was immediately skeptical — especially of the gel. It's not often a brand nails a new formula on the first go.
Eventually, however, I caved and bought the Bushy Brow gel, desperate for any product that could turn my naturally dark brows red to match my recently dyed hair. As it turns out, I was about to discover a new product I can no longer live without.
Sorry, Lime Crime haters, but this is an eyebrow product you can't deny yourself.
This is Lime Crime's recently released Bushy Brow eyebrow gel in Redhead ($18, Lime Crime).
Just under $20, it's price-equivalent to most other mid-range, cult-favorite eyebrow products such as Anastasia's Brow Wiz or Kat Von D Beauty's Super Brow.
I was hesitant to try it until I noticed this particular shade, because I have dyed red hair and naturally dark, dense eyebrows with microblading that's faded yet still noticeable.
If you have red hair — natural or not — you know how hard it is to find any sort of eyebrow product that's truly red rather than brown that's sort of red. Bushy Brow's red shade is RED.
I'd also recently run out of my beloved Lancôme brow gel, but felt the need to try something with more grip. My brow hairs are long and thick, and that makes them especially hard to tame.
I won't lie, the small size of the applicator and its very thin stem initially had me worried this gel wouldn't be able to stand up to my bushman eyebrows.
But the formula itself is sheer yet buildable, fibrous, and very sticky.
Which is why it's actually perfect for longer brow hairs — a few deep swipes upward will make even the most stubborn hair stay elevated for a solid 12+ hours.
If you wiggle the brush as you apply it, like you should mascara, it coats every single hair and can completely change your brow color.
Turns out, the small and thin size of the applicator was ideal for filling in my small bare patches. So not only does this brow hold hair in place, it actually does most of the filling for you.
If you have thinner brows than I do, you'll barely even need a pencil to achieve that disheveled, chunky brow look that's gaining popularity more and more every day.
Now my makeup feels totally incomplete without it. Redheads especially, this is a product you need to try.
