All jeans should be high-waisted. That's just fact.
High-cut waists flatter many body shapes, cover all the important bits and pieces, and are straight-up just way more comfortable. The Earth is round, and jeans are supposed to be high-waisted. This is just the way things are.
I thought we had finally figured that out and were prepared to stick to it in the late 2010s following an embarrassing years-long obsession with low slingers that bared butt cracks and made just about every teenage girl feel insecure about her midriff. But according to Fashion™, low-rise jeans are making a steady comeback.

So The Cut just published a story titled "The Countdown To Low-Rise Jeans Has Begun."
I know. Barf.
In summary, this story tracks celebrity and runway trends to predict that, unfortunately, low-rise pants are beginning to pop up more and more in the fashion industry.
Which mean that whether we like it or not, it's very likely that low-rise jeans will eventually show up on retailers' racks — it's just the way fashion works.
Naturally, I'm not the only one gagging with disgust at the very thought of my butt and hips being that exposed ever again.
Twitter got ahold of this story, and just about every woman was in agreement on this: NO, THANK YOU.
Low-rise jeans exploded in popularity during a time when women were expected to be dangerously thin, have flat stomachs, and were admonished for the "love handles" many of us have due to the shape of our hip bones.
Low-rise jeans weren't just a tool for policing women's bodies — they're also just really f*cking ugly.
And there's no way to prevent the entire world from seeing your entire ass in low-rise jeans, either.
They're unflattering in every possible way.
The body-positivity movement has made some pretty big strides for women with large and round hips, butts, and thighs—that's a whole lot of us — and we had better not stop now.
