7 weird foundation tools to try instead of a beautyblender

Don't get me wrong, I love beautyblenders. There's no denying that those little egg-shaped sponges changed the foundation application game.

But they're not the only fish in the flawless foundation sea — there are plenty of internet-famous sponges, brushes, and tools aiming to give you selfie-worthy skin. Here are 7 crazy foundation application tools guaranteed to give you a perfect complexion AND jazz up your vanity.

Gripless Finger Blender, $13

Makeup brand Gripless Beauty decided to cut the standard makeup sponge in half and add an adjustable ring to create an attachable finger blender.

"If you are tired of dropping sponges, messy fingers/hand, crampy fingers or just looking for the freedom to hold multiple items at a time, then this will be the perfect blending sponge for you," the company writes on its website.

The best part? Gripless Beauty started a "blend for a cause" campaign, vowing to donate 5% of all sales to charity.

Silisponge, $9

The applicator to end them all, the Molly Cosmetics silicone makeup sponge has exploded across the internet and was even deemed the "new beautyblender."

This clear tool may look like a breast implant, but the innovative sponge was designed to blend your makeup seamlessly without absorbing any of your (ahem, expensive AF) foundation.

Controlla All Purpose Makeup Blender, $5

These spoon-shaped brushes take on the job of a beautyblender, helping users evenly blend foundation and contour their faces. Etsy shop owner Zelia Milan writes that these makeup blenders "work well with any liquid or cream makeup" and are made with "fine cruelty free soft strands are tightly packed to give you the most flawless streak free makeup application."

And great news, party girls: these brushes are even small enough to fit in your tiniest "going out" clutch.

Sponge Lollipop Brush, $2 each

Meet the brush that is part makeup sponge, part lollipop, and 100% adorable.

This _*_sucker* is basically a beautyblender on a stick: Instead of using a sticky, foundation-coated beautyblender with your bare hands, the brush's handle prevents gooey foundation from getting all over the place. The partially flat shape of the sponge helps you achieve even coverage, making this lollipop-shaped brush a win-win.

All-Natural Cosmetic Sponge, $6

iHerb

This orange duo may look like processed cheese, but these sponges are actually the beautyblender's all natural, earthy cousins. Just apply foundation to one of the two AnneMarie Borlind sponges, and blend away.

Sea Silk Sponges, $11

Like the all-natural sponges above, these fine-pored sea sponges are the perfect size for makeup application. Sea sponges grow on the sea floor and develop a hard coral-like exterior, but once the outer shell is removed they become soft enough to use against the skin.

(And don't worry: when properly harvested, the removal of sponge tissue doesn't harm the sponge and cutting the sponge may actually increase its growth, similar to clipping back plants)

ARLESTARS Chou Cream Makeup Sponge Set, $20

Thinking about buying a basic beautyblender? Think again.

Available on Amazon, these sponges are better than your standard egg-shaped blenders because they come in all different shapes and sizes (and you get two for the price of one!). The "cupcake tin" and "clutch clasp" will keep your hands from getting dirty from your makeup, pretty much making these adorably-shaped sponges the only foundation tools you'll need.
