Most new moms appreciate the support of their mothers after having a baby. You’re sleep deprived, learning about the demands of taking care of a tiny human, and adjusting to this new version of yourself, physically, mentally and emotionally. It’s such a huge adjustment and we certainly weren’t meant to do it alone.
But one woman on TikTok shared that when her mother moved in to help with her new baby, she took things entirely too far and ended up having an affair with her son-in-law.

Laci's mom moved into her basement so she could help with her newborn.
All of this drama took place 14 years ago, so perhaps Laci Jane has put it far enough behind her that she’s ready to share with the internet.
Of course, TikTok was clamoring for the details. In the first part of the video series, which has been viewed over 7 million times, Laci shared that right after she had her daughter, she was dealing with a lot of health issues.
Her mom moved in with her and her now ex-husband to help. Laci’s mom lived in the basement for several months before she ended up getting her own house, which was a block away from Laci’s. Even though mom had her own space, she was still involved in her daughter’s family life.
Laci shared that her mom and husband carpooled to work together and she frequently visited Laci’s home to help out.

Laci and her then-husband had a rocky relationship even before her mom showed up.
Laci shared that she always had suspicions about her husband. “We were always arguing. And it got to the point where we needed to separate. So we all agreed that my husband would move into my mom’s house that she was renting and she would move back in with me to ‘help me’ with my newborn,” Laci said.
Once Laci’s mom was in her house again, the two got close. “She started to confide in me some things. And she knew that obviously my husband at the time and I were separated. And so she started telling me about all of these times he was cheating on me with all these different women.”
Laci said her mom made her promise not to tell her then-husband that she got this information from her. Still, Laci wanted to confront him.

But Laci didn’t keep her promise to her mom. Instead, she told her estranged husband, “Hey, my mom said you’ve been cheating on me this entire time.” Laci said her then husband looked her square in the eyes and said, “Well, why don’t she tell you what her and I have been doing.”
Laci said she will never forget the look in her ex-husband’s eyes as he said it. After the confession, Laci went back to her house where her mom was standing outside. Laci got out of the car and didn’t say anything, but her mother already knew.
“The look in her face … she was just white,” Laci recalled. They didn’t have a long discussion, instead Laci said to her, “I need you to pack your bags and get the f— out of my house.”
Laci's mom denied it ever happened.
Laci’s mom tried to deny it, asking her what her then-husband had said. Laci let her talk. Her mom said that the husband was lying and that they had never had an affair. It was an admission without ever being accused of anything — Laci hadn't even said the words before her mom started denying the affair.
Laci’s mom even tried to get her grandmother to corroborate her story, explaining that Laci's grandmother knew that her husband had been hitting on her. For the record, Laci’s grandparents still believe her ex-husband made all of this up to tear the family apart.
Laci also said her mother’s attempts to sabotage her didn’t stop with sleeping with her husband. Later, the mom tried to get Laci’s house taken from her, as a single mother with health issues and no job.
Sadly, Laci is not the only one with this kind of story.
While this story seems all bad, Laci shared that the whole incident inspired her to launch her nonprofit, which builds tiny houses for single moms. “Amazing things can come out of horrible things,” Laci said, concluding this unbelievable tale.
Sadly, in her comments section there were other people who shared similar stories.
“My wife and dad had an affair and ended up living together,” one user wrote. “They didn’t last and they are super miserable.”
Another woman shared that her mother did the same thing with her ex when she had just given birth three weeks prior.
Others were in complete shock. “I didn’t know this kind of evil existed,” another user wrote. “God bless you and I pray for your healing and health.”
