We have reached the stage of this strange year where we all have a stack of masks as deep as our underwear drawer. If we walk into a shoe store, the sales clerk bonds by exclaiming, "Cute mask!" And we are — in all seriousness — trying to match masks to outfits on a daily basis. Things have gotten weird. There is no doubt. And although we are all hoping this is a temporary situation, no one is sure of that.
I buy at least one tree ornament every year. Sometimes just to add to my collection. Sometimes to remember an event. So I'm absolutely planning to hang a "Santa mask" ornament this year. What I don't know is this: Will I have to explain it for years to come? Or will it not seem odd in a few years?
