Cupcakes are enduringly popular, and it's easy to see why. Who doesn't enjoy popping a tiny piece of cake in their mouth?

DIY Monster Cupcakes For Halloween

These monster cupcakes are so cute! They're also really easy.

Here's what you need:

  • baked and cooled cupcakes
  • white frosting
  • food coloring
  • candy corn
  • paper baking cups
  • mixing bowl
  • white and black decorative frosting

DIY Monster Cupcakes Recipe:

  1. Pour your white frosting into a mixing bowl
  2. Add 2-3 drops of food coloring. Stir, and see how you like it (tip: if you'd like deeper hue, add a few more drops of food coloring)
  3. Frost your cupcake
  4. Add 5-6 pieces of candy corn to the top of the cupcake
  5. With your decorative frosting, add two balls of white frosting on top
  6. Put two pupils (dark decorative frosting will work well here) in the center of each eye

How to make your own ghost cupcakes:

  1. Frost your cupcake with white frosting (tip: use a pastry bag to give the frosting more of a ghost-like shape!)
  2. Add two small chocolate chips to the front for eyes

It's not Halloween if witches aren't involved, right? Happily, making your own witch-themed cupcakes is pretty straight-forward.

Here's what you need:

  • baked and cooled cupcakes
  • two paper baking cups
  • scissors
  • toothpicks
  • tape
  • white frosting

How to make witch-themed Halloween cupcakes:

  1. Frost your cupcake with white frosting
  2. Fold one paper baking cup in half
  3. Fold it on top of itself, corner to corner
  4. Put a piece of tape on the inside corner and fold the cup once more, so that you have a triangle shape (tip: this will be your witch's hat)
  5. Use your finger to open up the bottom of the witch's hat and set aside
  6. Fold a second paper baking cup in half and cut out a half circle on the folded side (tip: this is your witch's skirt)
  7. Insert a toothpick into the top of your cupcake, right in the middle
  8. Place your hat on top of the toothpick
  9. Place your skirt over the hat and pull it down to decorate the cupcake
