Meet Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Her face has been all over the news this week, and with good reason: On June 28, she achieved a major electoral upset when she beat a Democratic incumbent in New York for a spot in her district's Congressional election.
Ocasio-Cortez won on a platform all about defying norms in politics — and she clearly takes the same stance on her makeup.
The congressional candidate has been wearing this bright-red lipstick everywhere during her campaign.

She's been spotted wearing the matte formula in debates, during interviews, and even on election night last Tuesday. It's kind of become her signature look.

And it's a powerful one at that. You can't deny red lipstick just screams, "I am a brilliant goddess, and I get shit done," when applied correctly.
Women politicians are often told to skew for as "natural" a look as possible, so it's no shocker people flocked to ask Ocasio-Cortez about her bold shade choice.
And she delivered an unanticipated answer: It's Stila's Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Beso.

This shade of Stila's, which retails for $22, is the brand's "true red" with blue undertones — perfect for a political candidate, as it makes teeth look uber white.

And it took all but a week to sell out EVERYWHERE. Twitter users couldn't find it online at Sephora, Ulta, or Stila Cosmetics.

Something tells me, however, that Ocasio-Cortez's staying power is just as strong as her lipstick's and that it'll be no time before Beso sells out across the board all over again.
Though women working in politics (and in general) should never be seen for their appearances alone, Ocasio-Cortez doesn't seem ashamed at all to be a lover of makeup, and that's why we'll stan forever.
Another reason to support her run for that Congressional seat? She's campaigning on a platform of universal healthcare, immigration justice, and higher education for all, among many other fantastic ideals.

Just look at all the things she could accomplish, should she win her next election again in November.

If and when that happens, she'll be the youngest Congresswoman of all time at 28 years old.
