When it comes to women we love, Amal Clooney will forever be our number one. Aside from her impeccable style (what we would DO to peruse through her wardrobe), her incredible hair, and her “trophy husband” George, the Lebanese-British human rights lawyer has acquired a seriouslyamazing resume.
To celebrate her 38th birthday (Feb. 3), we gathered some of her most inspiring style moments and paired them with a few of her most impressive achievements. Amal Clooney, you are the ultimate definition of beauty and brains.
Clooney earned a scholarship to Oxford University, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in law. She then moved to New York City and achieved her master’s from the prestigious NYU School of Law.
Her specialties include international law, human rights, extradition and criminal law. You know, the basic stuff.
As a result of her international upbringing and education, Amal speaks fluent English, French, and Arabic.
Back in the early 2000s, she worked on the Enron case.
In 2013, she earned the top spot on Britain’s “Hottest Barrister” list. A year later she married one of America’s most eligible bachelors, George Clooney, in Venice. She also wore this totally amazing hat:
During the summer of 2015 she gave a lecture series about human rights at Columbia Law School. The students had to take a vow of discretion, promising “not to discuss her or anything about her class,” according to The New York Times.
In conjunction with nonprofit 100 LIVES, Clooney launched the Amal Clooney Scholarship in December 2015. The scholarship helps young Lebanese women achieve an international education.
She also clerked for HBIC Sonia Sotomayor in her pre-Supreme Court Justice days. No big deal.
A few more of her famed legal triumphs: She repped WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in 2011 in his fight against extradition. She was Kofi Annan’s senior adviser during his time as the United Nations’ Envoy on Syria. She repped Armenia in 2015 at the European Court of Human Rights for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide. AND she did it all in style.
