Most of us who saw "50 Shades Darker" left the theater with one strong, lingering desire: To buy whatever lipstick Anastasia Steele was wearing.
Well, we can finally do that, because the film's makeup artist Evelyne Noraz revealed every single lipstick shade that Dakota Johnson wore in the movie — plus the one that was used on Christian Grey.
That bold plum from the Grey family's masquerade gala is a lip liner under a sheer matte from Glossier.
I was less enraptured by Anastasia's intense bathroom encounter with Christian's older former lover and more inhabited with joy when I saw the little "G" on her lipstick tube she used to freshen up during.
I definitely did not consider Anastasia nearly cool enough to shop Glossier, so I have to give props where they're due, because this is without a doubt the best look in the whole movie.
Generation G in Jam ($18, Glossier)
Lip Pencil in Burgundy ($18, MAC Cosmetics)
Anastasia opts for a old Hollywood matte red for the night she's given a jaw-dropping marriage proposal.
Ok, maybe I'm wrong and THIS is the best look from the movie, because I do love a good matching dress-and-lipstick combo. It helps that she was surrounded by stunning scenery in the Grey's pool house that looks like it came out of a Baz Lurhmann film.
Lip Pencil in Cherry ($18, Mac Cosmetics</a>); Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour ($21, Mac Cosmetics)
While she prefers a berry stain for when she's just hanging out in her sadomasochist billionaire boyfriend's shirts.
Because when your boyfriend looks that good and has that much money, you've got to dress to impress — even when you're just meandering around the house. Condo? Loft? Mansion?
Tinted Lip Conditioner in Arabian Knights ($26, Ilia)
But if she knows there'll be kissing, always likely, Anastasia Beverly Hills is her go-to.
Like Anastasia's lip biting habit, Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipsticks just won't fade, which is why the film's makeup artist used them in any scene she needed that pigment to stay PUT.
Liquid Lipstick in Heathers ($20, Anastasia Beverly Hills)
And then there's the lipstick that Christian Grey, er, wears.
Because Christian is both emotionally and literally scarred, he never allows Anastasia to touch his chest. So, she maps out Christian's physical boundaries with what looks like traditional red lipstick, which may have come from heaven, because it somehow stayed smudge-free under his white (WHITE!) shirt for an entire day.
The makeup artist doesn't remember the specific shade, but does remember that it was YSL. My bet's on this matte orange-red shade.
Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick in Orange Imagine ($37, Sephora)
