Two couples, Taya and Sean Hartless and Alysia and Tyler Rogers, met online three years ago while both couples were looking to spice up their relationships. After a year of flirtation, the Hartless couple and the Rogers couple fell in love and moved in together in Oregon.
When the couples got together, each couple had one child but wanted to add two more children into their polyamorous family. Both couples were new to polyamory, but it just felt right to them. They met and fell in love and that was that. Together, they are one big co-parenting family, and all four parents love and parent all the children. There is no yours and mine, just ours.
The couples met in 2019 after chatting online and getting to know one another for a few months.
It was polyamorous love at first sight. Taya told South West News Service of the situation: âFrom the first night we met, we all wanted to just see more of each other. It wasnât easy there was a lot of hesitations around having feelings. Sean was the first to point it out he said, âWe canât deny this is happening.â We agreed to talk it out to see what the future would look like. At first, I was really scared to come out and admit my feelings for Tyler. I was scared to let someone else in. But, eventually, we all admitted how we felt.â
How exactly does this quad work?
The polyamorous quad doesnât date people outside the relationship and everyone is an equal partner. They often go on dates as a foursome but also have one-on-one date nights. They spend most holidays and big events together as one big family.
The family moved in together in 2020. But how exactly does this quad make it work? Taya and Alysia have their own bedrooms. Meanwhile, Sean and Tyler rotate rooms each night. When the quad decided to add more babies to their new family, they just continued business as usual. Taya and Alysia kept sleeping with both men and no one ever kept track or cared who fathered the babies. Alysia found out that she was pregnant in August 2020. Stay-at-home mom Taya found out she was pregnant in March 2021.
In their family, it is irrelevant who the father or mother is.
They consider themselves one family and all four are equal partners and equal parents. So, they donât want, care, or need to know who the biological parents are. Alysia gave birth to a baby boy on April 3, 2021, and Taya gave birth to another baby boy on August 11, 2021.
The happy quad love their unique family built on love and partnership. Theyâre all excited about raising their children together with four parents instead of two. The kids happily tell others that they have two moms and two dads. They call Taya âMama,â Alysia âMom,â Sean âDaddy,â and Tyler âDad."
Alysia, Tyler, and Sean work outside of the home. Tylerâs an electrician and Sean works at a high school. Meanwhile, stay-at-home mom Taya stays home with the two youngest children and cares for them.
Navigating a quad relationship can be tricky.
While the family has found bliss in their progressive relationship, there is sometimes jealousy and it takes time to adjust and make the leap from a couple to a quad.
The family says that a lot of people canât understand the arrangement. Theyâve even gotten some pushback from their friends and family but, overall, they told South West News Service their inner circle has been supportive. To them, the most important thing is that they all love each other and their children equally and unconditionally. Bonus: They have extra hands and hearts to help with raising their children, whosever the may be.
