Curse of the Mummy
Through the Shredder
Ilia Averbukh of Russia didn’t have any tricks up his sleeve after his “date” Irina Lobacheva’s costume apparently got stuck in the shredder at the 2003 World Figure Skating Championships.
Tarzan, Meet Ke$ha
In one of the most bizarre mash-ups ever to take to the ice, Russian duo Oksana Domnina and Maxim Shabalin looked to the Aboriginal people of Australia (you know, the ones world-renowned for their ice skating routines?) for costume inspiration at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
When Animals Attack
It looks like Roman Kostomarov and Tatyana Navka of Russia raided Siegfried & Roy’s closet for their 2006 Olympic costumes. It also appears that one of the tigers clawed the duo before they could make a run for it.
50 Shades of Grey
Marina Anissina of France completely dominated partner Gwendal Peizerat at the 2002 Salt Lake City 2002 Olympic Games. And despite what Christian Grey may say, their costumes prove that the line between pleasure and pain is very, very clear.
The Gypsy Ice Dance
Ukrainians Anna Zadorozhniuk and Sergei Verbillo looked like they were in a high school musical version of Carmen at the Vancouver Olympics.
Hoe Down
“Daisy Dukes” made their Olympic debut on Sinead Kerr of Great Britain, skating with her brother Bo Duke … sorry, John in Vancouver in 2010. Unlike the Dukes, the couple didn’t hop over the boards, but opened the door and stepped onto the ice.
