Editor’s Picks: January 2026

It’s the new year and we’re recharged and ready to start anew! The lights are down, the holiday decorations are put away, and the tinsel is in the trash. As we looked back at last year and some of the work that we did here at Mom.com going through products for our annual gift guides, there were products that we found that didn’t quite fit into any of our gifting groups, but that we loved regardless. So we wanted to share them below. Impact-Site-Verification: -160208299

Some of them are useful, some made our lives so much easier during those back-breaking gift wrapping nights (thank you, Slice tools!), while others are just little indulgences that you can get and keep all to yourself. And others of course, we picked with some of our favorite family members in mind, because giving is good no matter the season.

Kalorik VIVID 2-slice TFT Toaster

Guys! It’s a smart toaster and I’m obsessed. Last year, the toaster I had owned since my wedding almost 20 years ago finally gave out and I begrudgingly went to Target to pick up a replacement. I bought one kind of knowing I wouldn’t love it as much as my last, but whatever, it was just a toaster. Only, I kept not loving it. Then the people at Kalorik reached out to tell me about their new VIVID 2-slice TFT Toaster, and I was intrigued. We use our toaster every day, so while it might seem kind of trivial, finding one that makes perfect toast without too much fussing helps our mornings out a lot. So the idea of a smart toaster (didn’t even know they existed!) that did just that, sounded like just what I needed. It actually looks very similar to my 15+-year-old toaster, but it has a fully digital, color display, different settings for various types of bread from sourdough to English muffins, and it calculates precisely the right amount of time for each type. You can even adjust it to your preferred browning level and it has an automatic shut-off for added safety. Plus, it seems quite sturdy, so I expect we’ll get years of use out of it.

Planeta de Cafe Puerto Rican Coffee

If you’re a coffee-loving mom who enjoys the highest of quality brews — whether daily or for special occasions — you have to try Planeta de Cafe Puerto Rican coffee. I came across this brand on social media, and being of Puerto Rican descent myself, I instantly connected to the company’s mission. Having moved to Puerto Rico from the mainland themselves, Jose Diaz and Jarrell Chalmers, were inspired by the land to help invigorate the island’s coffee-growing industry. They launched Planeta de Cafe committed to only using premium Puerto Rican coffee beans grown at locally owned farms using eco-friendly methods, that help preserve the land and boost the economy. Not only that, but a portion of the proceeds from each bag goes to local Puerto Rican non-profit organizations, hand selected by Jose and Jarrell. Delicious coffee for a good cause? I’m in. Oh, and there’s a subscription option.

Rubik's Cube Tetris Brainteaser

Over Thanksgiving while we were visiting very close friends, my kids once again found themselves obsessed with the Rubik’s Cube. We’ve been there before at various stages of their childhoods and it’s always fun to watch them work through the iconic fidget toy. Then, shortly after we returned home, I heard about the Rubik’s Cube Tetris Brainteaser toy and quickly nabbed one for each kid. The nostalgia! These two games were ubiquitous in the 70s and 80s, and to see a modernized version that’s also a mash-up the two is really cool, and can make for endless hours of screen-free fun. The aim is to twist and turn until all six classic Tetriminos are revealed rather than having each side be a solid color, which presents an interesting challenge for both little minds and grown-up ones.

Hanna Andersson x Oeuf Pajamas

I have to admit, I’ve never been a matching pajamas kind of girlie. I’ve actually always bought them for my kids, and we’ve been big fans of Hanna Andersson which fit them well, are so cozy, and last forever, but I’ve never tried them myself. That is until recently, and I must say, I might turn into a matching pajamas kind of girlie. As soon as I slipped on the Long Sleeve HannaSoft™ Pajama Set in the black hearts pattern that was recently released as a part of the company’s collaboration with the children’s lifestyle brand, Oeuf, I did not want to ever take them off. Seriously … so soft. There’s no pinching or bunching and while they are warm enough to sleep in all winter long, they don’t feel heavy or too hot either. These PJs are totally worth the hype!
