Remember in high school or college when you were a senior and stumbled across a friendly freshman in one of your clubs or extra-curricular activities and you kind of felt the need to take them under your wing and protect them?
Well, the same could be said about a 19-year-old tradwife who recently went viral for sharing a video in which she bragged about getting married at 19, not having a degree or job of any kind and not planning on getting one. For those who are wanting to tell this young woman a thing or two about life and how one day down the line she might regret not setting herself up financially or career-wise, you are not alone!

A 19-year-old tradwife’s video on social media is making the rounds and garnering the kind of attention that perhaps she didn’t really think about beforehand. On her Instagram page, the young woman who posted goes by the handle @ahavat_ava with the descriptor under her name that states “just a young wife who loves her husband.”
What seems to be grabbing a lot of people’s attention is what she says in her video right off the jump. In the first 10 seconds of the viral video, she shares that she’s “19 years old, married, no degree, no 9 to 5 [job], and [she’s] exactly where [she wants] to be.”
In the video, she shares that she got engaged when she was just 18 years old and married shortly after at 19 after dating for just six weeks. There’s a 10-year age gap between her and her husband and she explains that she loves to host and cook for her husband and basically take care of their home.
She also took the time to share for those who have told her that she needs to be “out there living her life,” she explains that she feels like she is doing just that in her “faithful marriage.”
All these things are absolutely a woman’s choice, but at not even 20 years old, does this young woman even realize what she may be giving up?
A lot of folks online worry about what happens to someone like this if the marriage fails.
With the rise of controversial tradwife culture, especially due to videos just like this that go viral on social media, people tend to have a lot of thoughts about young women giving up their financial independence and the opportunity at an education and a career to be a stay-at-home wife or mother.
Most tend to worry that their seemingly ‘perfect’ life might look a heck of a lot different in five or ten years. One person on X shared their thoughts. They wrote, “You mean that when he cheats on her and decides to dump her for a younger woman she will have no life skills, no professional skills so she’ll have to fight for a service job to provide for herself and the five children they have?”
Others commented on the video on X about how a tradwife lifestyle can leave a woman without options if things don’t go according to plan. One person wrote, “Some of the people here are really not understanding the fact that she’s now completely dependent on her partner, and that’s just not healthy. She got married too quickly, has no career aspects or is wanting to get a job (she’s financially dependent on her husband). Not good.”
Another shared how they see this kind of thing as the young woman completely giving up her automony and control of her own life and choices. “That lack of education/financial independence gonna have her stuck and controlled for the rest of her life. Bless her,” they wrote.
We’ve seen this story before a few years down the line and things didn’t end well for the woman.
This Reddit thread shares the story of a former tradwife named Alice who spoke to Newsweek in 2024 about how getting a divorce at 25 after living the tradwife lifestyle for several years with her husband ended up being something that she would “never encourage any woman to do.”
She shared that she gave up getting a four-year degree for her marriage and experienced a six-year work experience gap in her resume that affected getting back into a traditional career when her marriage went south, per Newsweek.
A lot of people in the Reddit thread express their concerns about how it’s not even a tradwife issue as many people who stay at home to raise their kids may find themselves experiencing the same hardships when they want to return to work. One person shared, “Conservatives don’t like hearing about all the risks and sacrifices women make to be a stay at home woman. It makes them very vulnerable yet they think it’s good because they don’t have to work.”
Another person wrote, “It’s almost like this was the exact reason that women turned away from the traditional wife role in the first place. Crazy.”
