A 2-Year-Old Got Stuck in a Claw Machine & the Fire Department Had to Come Get Him Out

For so many parents, it’s one of their worst nightmares for their kids to come to them and say that they’ve gotten some weird object stuck up their nose. But what about the times when your child actually gets stuck inside something completely unexpected like a claw machine? That doesn’t happen quite as often, does it? A video has gone viral after a family went to get some ice cream and their 2-year-old ended up squeezing through an opening and finding himself stuck inside a claw machine full of plushies. They had to call the fire department for some help!

A video of a crying 2-year-old stuck in a claw machine has gone viral.

Who knew a family trip to a local ice cream shop could quickly take a turn into having to call the fire department when your child literally gets stuck inside a claw machine? This doesn’t happen every day, thank goodness!

According to Channel 3000+ News, the Gutierrez family are regular patrons of an ice cream shop in Madison, Wisconsin, but when they visited last week, things suddenly went awry. Their 2-year-old, Lohan, ended up squeezing through an opening in a claw machine that lives in the ice cream establishment and climbed up to the plushies and got stuck.

His dad, Yefri Gutierrez Gamez, ended up recording the incident and it went viral on TikTok.

An employee at Milin’s ice cream shop called 911 and hopes that this situation is a lesson for parents out there. “If you know he gets into things, keep an eye on him. Like, how could you not hear that he was in there,” she said.

There’s also a firsthand look of the firefighters arriving on the scene trying to make a very awkward situation better.

The comments section has a few things to say about this incident.

Someone posted the video on X and shared that they are unsure if they could have done this rescue procedure with a straight face. “I responded to a lot of crazy and stupid calls in my firefighter days. This though? I wouldn’t have been able to keep a straight face. Professionalism in situations like this was not my forte,” the caption read.

Of course, there’s going to be a silly person or two in the comments with something to say. “Throw a few quarters in the machine and get him with the claw,” one person wrote. Another person wondered, “Why doesn’t he just come out the same way he came in?” Actually, that’s kind of a good question, but he probably got scared thinking he was stuck.

Another individual in the X comments blamed the parents for this happening. “He was a lot more scared of the firefighters than being “stuck” in that machine. One, obviously the parents were not supervising, two, could have talked the kid to climb back out and learn his lesson to unstuck himself. That would have helped a lot more imo,” they wrote.

One person guessed that it was actually the father who told his child to climb in there in the first place. “I’m willing to bet the dad convinced his son to get in there,” they commented.

We wouldn’t go that far, but you never know!

Apparently, kids getting stuck inside claw machines is not that uncommon.

In a Reddit thread titled, “This is my cousin everybody!” you can spot a cute blonde child stuck inside a rather large claw machine. Only this time, the kid doesn’t appear to be crying, simply hanging out in there.

One person in the Reddit comments asked one question that we were probably all thinking. “My favorite thing is the “stuck” part. Are they actually stuck or unwilling to exit?” they wrote. Another individual couldn’t help but agree. They replied, “Most toddler problems stem from their rank unwillingness to do perfectly reasonable things. Like, for example, voluntarily exit a claw machine.” They kind of have a point there. If the child somehow crawled in, why isn’t it possible for them to crawl right out?

Another redditor showed some parental sympathy for things like this. “Until I had a kid, I never realized how this shit could happen. Nowadays, I absolutely understand how this s— could happen,” they wrote.

Parents of busy toddlers everywhere are likely shaking their head in agreement!
