Mystery Deepens After Infant Abandoned in Stranger’s Yard & 4 Family Members Are Found Dead

When a child turns up mysteriously, it’s always cause for concern. But things escalated from bad to worse in the case of one abandoned child. Authorities in neighboring counties in Tennessee had a horrific day Tuesday, July 29, 2025, after finding an abandoned infant in Dyer County a few hours before confirming four bodies had been found in Lake County. Officials now suspect that the two are sadly connected, People reported.

On Facebook, the Dyer Country Sheriff’s office shared details about the abandoned child.

“At approximately 3:11 p.m. today, the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding a concerning incident on Old Highway 20 near the Tigrett area. A dark-colored minivan or a white mid-size SUV was reported to have dropped off an infant in a car seat at a random individual’s front yard. Thankfully, a witness saw the car seat with the child and called 911.”

Hours later, the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office revealed that four bodies were recovered in neighboring Lake County. Shortly after posting the initial release about the child, it issued another update stating it “would like to speak with Cortney Rose, Matthew Wilson, and Adrianna Williams.”

Sadly on July 30, another Facebook update with limited details stated that three of the people Dyer County Sheriff’s Office wanted to question regarding the baby were identified as three of the four found bodies. The other body was that of 15-year-old Braydon Williams.

On July 31, another post identified a suspect wanted in the case of the four deaths.

“We need your help to find Austin Robert Drummond (DOB: 08/31/1996), the suspect wanted by [Tennessee Bureau of Investigation] and the Lake County Sheriff’s Department for First Degree Murder, Kidnapping, and other charges in the ongoing investigation into the deaths of four people. He’s 5’10”, 190 lbs., with brown hair, blue eyes, and a goatee. His appearance may have been altered. The 29-year-old is believed to be driving a 2016 Audi A3 with Tennessee plate: RI 01896. The vehicle has damage to the driver’s side.”

Authorities warned that he should be considered armed and dangerous and advised community members to not approach him.

The baby is currently with family and is safe.
