Alejandro Leon Jr. and Samantha Angelina Feliz were living in Hollywood, Florida, when they told friends and family they welcomed a baby girl named Angelina. They even shared photos of the infant. A few months after their baby girl’s birth, a relative questioned why they hadn’t seen the child in months, and the couple allegedly gave them a strange answer.
Leon and Feliz denied ever having a baby, claiming Angelina was part of a scam to make money. Investigators found photographic evidence of Angelina’s existence but never found her body. Police recently arrested Leon and Feliz in the missing infant’s death.
Feliz reportedly gave birth outside a hospital.
According to court documents obtained by WPLG, Feliz gave birth to Angelina between December 2024 and January 2025. The baby was not born in a hospital, and it seems neither Leon nor Feliz filed to get a birth certificate for their baby.
An investigation into the couple began in July 2025 when a relative went to the Hollywood Police with a strange story. They claimed they met up with Feliz in March and asked about Angelina. The woman reportedly replied, “What baby? There is no baby.”
Feliz consistently denied having a baby.
Per police, Feliz denied Angelina’s existence for months.
“Since that time, Feliz has claimed that there never was a baby, that the baby was a hoax and that she was scamming everyone for money,” per her arrest warrant.
Despite denying she gave birth, police claimed Feliz and Leon referenced Angelina’s existence in text messages and had photos of the baby girl. Feliz and Leon reportedly told officers from the Lantana Police Department Angelina never existed.
“Feliz was never pregnant and had never given birth to a baby,” a police report noted.
Photos apparently tell a different story.
Investigators claim a photo from January 5, 2025, shows Angelina as a malnourished child with “no signs of life.”
Feliz and Leon tried to convince investigators that she wore a belly to simulate pregnancy as a way to get people to open their hearts and support them financially.
“They further claimed that the story was fabricated in hopes that their families would feel sorry for them and give them money,” HPD Detective Nancie Toler wrote. “During the interview, Feliz indicated that there were numerous text messages between her, Leon, and family members discussing the pregnancy and how she made the story up.”
The couple alleged the baby belonged to a “crack addict” and they were just watching Angelina for her. Nothing more.
A storage unit search led to even more surprises.
In a storage unit filled with Feliz and Leon’s things, investigators allegedly found “baby clothing, a positive Clearblue Easy pregnancy test, black semi auto handgun, what appears to be a blood-stained towel, three notebooks containing verbiage of a gender reveal and victim shower, and multiple electronic devices.”
Per an arrest report, DNA evidence gave investigators enough to charge the couple with multiple crimes. They each face charges of aggravated manslaughter of a child, failure to report a child’s death, tampering with physical evidence, and providing false information to law enforcement to conceal a crime.
Police in Rockingham, North Carolina, arrested 20-year-old Feliz and 21-year-old Leon. They currently await extradition to Florida.
