One dad shared a story about how his co-parent taking him to court over his support payments really backfired on her, and now, it’s going viral. People have a lot of opinions on this one!

Sharing a video of a check for $13.49 made out to someone named Shaniquia Nichols, a man named Barnett Jenkins explained that his child’s mother recently took him to court to mandate custody payments after they’d worked out a payment out of court.
“Was giving my BM $300 every week. Hit a rough patch and told her I need 2-3 months to get back on my feet and could only give her $150 a week,” he wrote in the caption. “I have custody of my daughter 3 days out of the week. I take her to school everyday & pick her up. and I pay for all of her daycare expenses. her greedy a– wanted to put me on Child Support.”
Barnett continued, “Well it’s official I just made my first adjusted documented child support payment. 18 more years to Go.”
After going to court, the payment changed big time.
Yep, you read that check right — Barnett is now only required to pay $13 to his child’s mother per month when before, he was shelling out between $1,200 to $1,500 per month voluntarily. Yikes!
The situation has ignited a debate.

Now that the story is going viral on X, many people are cheering this dad on for what they say is a victory.
“I love these type of stories where the man does everything he can to be a good man and provide, but the woman is greedy and wants to take even more and end up flopping it all, congratulations to the man on his win,” one person wrote.
Another person who disagreed wrote, “The child is the most important person in these situations and just because the court valued their life to be only worth $13/month doesn’t mean its ok. It costs way more than $13/day to take care of a child, let alone a month!”
It’s important to remember that child support isn’t fun money for Mom — it’s money meant to help a parent pay for their child’s expenses, since both parents should be financially responsible for their children.
In the end, the person who truly loses out here might be the kid involved, and the drama could have been avoided if they worked out an agreement in court to begin with. You live and learn…
