A Georgia woman allegedly gave birth to a baby without telling her boyfriend she was pregnant and began having complications soon after delivering the baby. Alaynah Marie Rappuhn, 22, arrived at the Piedmont Macon emergency room in Bibb County on March 31, 2025, with excessive bleeding. Her boyfriend reportedly noticed something was wrong and took her to the emergency room for help. When he returned to their home a short time later, he made a horrific discovery.
According to a statement from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Rappuhn allegedly gave birth to a baby boy at home but did not say anything and placed him in a trash bag on the back porch. When her bleeding became excessive, her unnamed boyfriend rushed her to the hospital about 1 p.m. He then returned to their home in the 1300 block of Payton Street.
“After transporting Rappuhn to the hospital, her boyfriend returned home to retrieve some belongings when a noise caught his attention coming from the bag. Upon checking the bag, the infant was found wrapped in towels. The infant was immediately transported to the hospital,” a news release from the sheriff’s office explains.
Investigators discovered Rappuhn gave birth to her son about 4:30 a.m. “It was reported that Rappuhn did not let her boyfriend know that she was pregnant, or that she had the child when he came home. It was also reported that Rappuhn did not notify medical staff that she had the child upon arriving for medical treatment,” the release notes.
Police arrested the 22-year-old and took her to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center on April 1. She faces charges of criminal attempt to commit murder, reckless abandonment of a child, and first-degree cruelty to children, per the release. A judge denied her bond. During a hearing, Rappuhn requested a psychiatric evaluation. Per the sheriff’s office, her baby boy remains in critical but stable condition.
Many people commented on their disbelief on the sheriff’s Facebook page.
One person wrote, “She had sense enough to have the baby and hide it .. she’s not CRAZZY. That’s jst low down she could’ve dropped that baby off at the hospital.”
Many agreed, such as this person who wrote, “I am sorry but I don’t feel sorry for her. There is difference in what is right and wrong. You might feel you have been inconvenienced but you don’t hurt a child for any reason.”
This person gave the mother grace, writing, “Maybe she didn’t know she was pregnant or didn’t realize she was having the baby and panicked even so she could’ve took the baby to a drop off destination or gave him up for adoption. Praying for her & the baby! Being a mom is no simple task but there are some women out there who would do anything to be a MOTHER.”
