Most of us probably remember the story from a few years ago about how some American toddlers were starting to sound like Peppa Pig after watching the cartoon for so long. Well, now there’s another story but with an opposite twist — a British mom says her toddler has developed an American accent from watching Ms. Rachel.
Kelly Convey, a British standup comedian and mom, recently went viral on TikTok
But there was one big difference
Kelly clearly has a British accent, but her daughter, not so much.
Her toddler was able to say a few words that sounded like her mom — both “car” and “more.” But when she was asked to repeat “ears” and “zebra,” Kelly’s daughter sounded very American.
“You’re so clever,” Kelly tells her daughter.
People in the comment section totally heard the American accent, too
“Peppa Pig got Uno reversed by Miss Rachel,” one person joked.
“This is payback for Peppa Pig,” another added.
“My 4yo twins sound Australian because they consistently watch Bluey,” another mom shared. “To the point that their preschool teacher asked me what I was teaching them.”
“Put all the Ms Rachel British kids and all of the Peppa American kids in one preschool and let’s see what we get,” another viewer joked.
Ms. Rachel is the latest favorite among toddlers
Ms. Rachel is a celebrity among the toddler crowd after gaining millions of followers on YouTube who tune in for her catchy songs. Parents love her because she holds kids’ attention without making parents want to turn off all the screens.
