British Teen Fatally Stabbed Sleeping Stepdad Over 70 Times & Killed Family Dog Unprovoked

Any dedicated and loving parent does what they can to provide a nurturing and supportive home for their kids. Especially when they enter those often tough teenage years, you really feel like you need to give them a safe place to land whenever they go through a rough patch with a friend or experience their first heartbreak. Sometimes, though, it’s just not enough. A 19-year-old British teen confessed to police that he stabbed his sleeping stepfather numerous times and killed the family dog in an unprovoked attack.

What’s even scarier to think about is that he had previously made “kill lists” with other family members names on them.

A 19-year-old male in the UK has been charged with murder after stabbing his stepdad over 70 times.

According to a news release by the Derbyshire Constabulary shared on Facebook, 57-year-old Christopher Owen of Valley Road, Shirebrook, UK, was found dead at his home on October 22, 2025, with dozens of stab wounds. Also found dead at the residence was the family’s Jack Russell dog, who died from multiple stab wounds.

The individual charged with murder, along with causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal in relation to the death of a dog, was 19-year-old Logan Procter, the victim’s stepson, per the news release.

Owen had more than 70 stab and slash wounds, 50 of which were in the head, face, and neck, People reported. The court heard that Procter used so much force that two vertebrae were chipped and the kitchen knife that he used bent, so he switched to a combat knife to continue the heinous assault, per the news release.

This is absolutely chilling.

Sadly, the victim suffered for some time and the dog ‘screamed’ during the attack.

According to the Derbyshire Constabulary news release, the court heard on April 17, 2026, that the attack on Owen went on for about five to seven minutes as the victim was fighting back, with several defensive wounds found on his arms and hands.

The court also heard that despite all of his injuries, Procter’s stepdad did not die immediately, and “it would have taken some time for him to succumb to his injuries,” per the news release. The family dog, who they called Poppy, was found with Owen, and Procter explained that the dog “screamed a lot” as he stabbed her 15 times.

Prosecutor Maryam Syed KC told the court that Procter had two cellphones and from the materials extracted, there were various kill lists with several names and “various methods of killing” listed, the BBC reported.

One of the lists in relation to Procter’s home life had Owen at the top and included Procter’s mom and another family member, per the BBC.

After the brutal attacks, Procter showered and calmly called emergency services.

According to the news release, after killing his stepfather and dog, Procter undressed, put his bloody clothing in a laundry basket to be washed, and took a shower before calling emergency services himself.

Procter gave no explanation as to why he carried out the two attacks, but he did tell police that he had thought killing Owen and Poppy would be “a thrill,” but it wasn’t what he expected, per the news release. The court also heard that following his remand to prison, Procter was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, mood disorder, and borderline learning disability.

Procter’s mother, Alison Owen, who was also Owen’s partner, said in a victim impact statement that her son had “never shown any form of anger or violence in all his life,” per the BBC. “The outcome of this situation will bring me no comfort at all because I have lost everything I hold dear to me – a precious partner, Chris, and my precious boy, Logan,” Alison Owen shared in her statement.

Procter has been sentenced to serve a minimum of 20 years and 132 days in prison before being eligible for release.

Our thoughts go out to Alison Owen and her family. Hopefully she is surrounded by loved ones and community as she tries to come to terms with such a devastating loss.
