School is supposed to be a safe place for our kids. In recent years, however, it feels like schools are grounds for rampant violence and predatory adults rather than havens for our kids to learn in. One English teacher at a Christian school in Virginia is only adding to the concern many parents face across the country after she is being accused of a sex crime.
The teacher was arrested over the summer.
Katelin Campbell, 34, a teacher at C.H. Friend School, was arrested August 14, 2025, and booked at the Halifax County Adult Detention Center after being accused of having sex with a male student, according to People. She was charged with taking indecent liberties with a child by a person in a custodial relationship and having “consensual” sex with a child 15 or older.
People reviewed the country jail records and confirmed that the event occurred on November 1, 2024. The teacher was reportedly released on a $2,500 bond the day of her arrest.
What led to Campbell’s arrest?
Dana Jones, the school’s headmistress, claims she made an immediate report to police once she was informed according to WSET News, which first reported on the harrowing incident.
“We chose integrity instead of it being swept under the rug. Scripture is very clear that if it was done in the dark it was going to be brought to light,” Jones explained to the news outlet. “We understand that taking it to the police department, it was going to come shine a light on to us. We took what we were told to them and let them carry on with their investigation.
“No contact with Ms. Campbell nor action regarding her employment was necessary due to Ms Campbell submitting her notice of resignation to be effective immediately on August 4th at 6:25 p.m., the same day the school was made aware of the allegations,” she continued.
Although Jones would not confirm the identity of the victim, the Common Wealth attorney confirmed the victim was male.
