Couple Gets Married on Southwest Flight and the Internet Is Horrified

Travel days can be very stressful, especially when flying is involved. About a million things can go wrong at the airport, so for many of us, having the chance to finally sit down in our assigned seat is the first deep breath we’ve been able to take all day.

But what if, after take off, you realized that a couple is actually hosting a full wedding on your flight, and you have no choice but to sit there and witness it? Some people might really love the whimsy of it all, but after footage of a plane wedding went viral on TikTok, many more people are saying this would actually be their worst nightmare.

The wedding seemed to come as a surprise to everyone on board.

It looks like the Southwest Airlines flight was already underway when passengers were surprised to find out that a wedding would be taking place, right at the front of the plane — and a flight attendant even asked people to avoid using the lavatory during the ceremony, so it seems like the airline itself was totally on board with this idea.

The happy couple, whose names are Tina and Roger, even brought an officiant along for their vows, and the bride walked down the aisle to the One Direction song “If I Could Fly.”

When the ceremony was over and they kissed, the whole plane applauded, and a guest book was even passed around so everyone who was the flight could share their best wishes for the newlyweds.

The couple had a full party waiting for them at the terminal when the plane landed.

The excitement didn’t stop with the in-flight ceremony. Once the plane landed, the party continued. Not only was the jet bridge decorated with pink streamers, but so was the gate the plane landed at. There were even more decorations, a phone playing Bruno Mars’ “Marry You,” balloons, and a little girl was spreading pink feathers instead of rose petals along the couple’s path.

Tina and Roger must have felt very celebrated… especially as they were driven away on an electric cart that had a sign on the back reading “just married.”

Most people were convinced this would ruin the flight for them.

While Tina and Roger looked super happy with the way their wedding played out, people on Reddit did not hold back when it came to just how much they felt it would suck to be stuck on a plane with all of this going on.

“‘All of you are invited to the wedding’ — right, because the alternative is?” one commenter wrote, with another adding, “The person putting on their headphones as the ceremony starts… has the right idea.”

Others actually thought it was a pretty sweet moment, especially since everyone was just sitting on the plane anyway.

“As insane as the world is right now, and with all the negativity and hate in the world, I would be much happier to be able to witness something like this! And, I already get very nervous when I fly, so this would be a great distraction!” another person shared. “Plus, I would much rather witness a wedding on a plane, than some of the atrocious behavior I’ve seen from passengers in other videos. And if you don’t want to watch it, then don’t.”

Congrats to Tina and Roger!
