Whether or not you own a firearm is a personal decision that should not be taken lightly. Gun safety is so very important, particularly if you have kids. Part of being a responsible gun owner is assuring your children will never have access to a weapon. Being an irresponsible gun owner who shares photos of your baby with a gun propped up against them will land you with felony charges in at least one Florida county.
Deputies from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Department arrested Taylor Knoop of DeLeon Springs on October 19, 2025. The 27-year-old father allegedly shared photos of an infant and toddler posed with a handgun, alcohol, and marijuana, Fox 35 reported. A witness who received the images reportedly contacted the Department of Children and Families about the photographs. The agency told the witness to contact law enforcement.
According to court documents obtained by Fox 35, Knoop reportedly told police he knew about the photos but only admitted to staging one “as a joke” and denied taking them. The father did admit the marijuana was real but claimed it belonged to someone else. Police were unsure who the drugs belonged to or who served as the photographer.
Police noted in an arrest report that the home’s condition was unsafe because of unfinished plywood walls, exposed wires, and parts of the ceiling being missing. WESH reported that a nearby family took custody of the children as the investigation continued. It’s unclear whether DCF plans to investigate further.
The Daytona Beach Mugshots Facebook page posted Knoop’s arrest details, and his alleged actions impressed no one.
“Volusia county father of the week winner,” someone wrote.
“The truth always prevails,” another person shared. “Don’t be a pos.”
According to one comment, the children’s mother, who was not identified, was also arrested for similar crimes.
“Crazyyyy the baby momma got locked up for the same s—,” a comment alleged.
According to online records, Knoop faces two charges of child neglect. He posted a $10,000 surety bond and was released from jail. His next court date is unclear.

Putting a gun, drugs, and alcohol in a photo with your kids and then sharing it is just about the stupidest thing a person can do. He’s lucky that no one was hurt. Hopefully, those children have a safe and loving place to live that’s free from their father’s dangerous jokes.
