We've all seen the "mommy and me" clothing sets and styles all over our socials in the past several years. We have to admit that some of the clothes are so darling and we may have even done it ourselves a few times. Although it's usually fashion fun we see from moms and their littles, one dad and his daughter are blowing those looks out of the water with their fashionable fits.
Elyssa Kim, 21, and her dad, Edward Kim, are die-hard Swifties and decided to go all out for her concert. According to Today the duo from Orange County, California, started going to see Taylor Swift live together during her "1989 World Tour" in 2015, and they saw her again during the "Reputation Tour" in 2018.
Last week, the pair had coveted tickets to Swift's highly anticipated "Eras Tour" opening night in Glendale, Arizona. And just like the singer's hit "Style," these two were dripping with it — so much so that their look went viral on TikTok.
The super short clip is pretty darn clever.
The TikTok is only 19 seconds long, but we get a good idea in less than 20 seconds of what the Kims are all about and the kind of relationship Elyssa and Edward have. The video starts with the pair on a plane lip-syncing to Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do."
As soon as we hear Swift say, "She's dead," the TikTok flashes to Elyssa and Edward dressed to the nines dancing to "Look What You Made Me Do." And we won't lie, Elyssa's hot pink jacket is everything.
Dad is the man behind the look.
Let's not get it twisted, though. We may think that mom is a girl's go-to for fashion advice, but Edward is Elyssa's style muse. He is the one who insisted on the bright jacket.
"People think I go to my mom, but oftentimes I go to my dad. He picked out my prom dress!" she told Today. "Even here, I was trying to go for different eras, so we ended up going with the 'Lover' theme, and he was like, 'You have to wear the pink jacket."
Elyssa helped Edward pick out his outfit too. He opted for an all-black tracksuit, and he looked pretty darn great.
"Dad, you have to go with the iconic tracksuit. If you wear a black tracksuit, that's big 'Reputation,'" Elyssa told him per Today.
Concerts are their thing, and this one is a dream come true.
We remember all too well the horror of the Ticketmaster debacle back in November, with Swifties unable to get tickets after spending hours and hours on the phone or computer. Elyssa was in it to win it and did not give up. She told Today that she spent an entire day trying to get tickets to the tour's opening night.
"It's been such a special bond to get to experience the show with my dad," she shared. "I'm so fortunate to have such a supportive figure and also be getting to be around Taylor's presence. She's such an empowering woman."
You aren't even going to believe Edward.
If it wasn't incredible enough that Elyssa scored tickets to the show, so did Edward. And it's about the sweetest thing we have ever heard.
"When I was trying to surprise him with tickets, he was trying to surprise me," she explained. "And so he ended up getting us two tickets for Chicago."
OMG, this dad! We are totally getting "The Gift of the Magi" vibes and we can hardly stand it. Elyssa is all about her dad, and we can see why. He is a gem.
"He's aways been my number one supporter," she shared with Today. "He's always pushing me and I love that about him. He's always been a good role model for female empowerment as well and telling me I can do whatever. You can just tell his support through that video and I'm glad other people see that too," she said.
These two are perfect for social media.
Elyssa told Today that her dad is a natural behind the camera and needed no direction from her.
"I was like, 'Dad, let's do this thing together!' as I was on the plane because I thought it would be fun," she explained. "Even before we left, I was trying to get a good spot and he said, 'I'll put my bag down so we can stand up the phone!'"
And boy, does the TikTok world love them. The video has 293,00 views and counting, and people can't get enough.
"OMG I LOVE YOUR DAD! YES DAD!!!!!!! This makes me so so so happy !!!!!!! ❤️❤️I hope you guys had fun!!" a follower wrote.
"This is so precious I'm crying," another comment reads.
Another person simply commented, "Dad knew the assignment."
Just for fun, in another video, Elyssa treated us to a video of the two in "merch you waited two hours in line for the next day." They are just the best!
Elyssa, you are one of the lucky ones. Your dad is amazing, and we hope you see many more concerts together. And Edward, what can we say? You slay. Simple as that.
