Something borrowed, something blue, and something … Labubu? It might just be the newest trend for weddings everywhere, as David’s Bridal recently launched custom Labubu wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses that can be special-ordered for the big day.
In case you aren’t familiar with Labubus, they are stuffed plushes inspired by a picture book series created by Hong Kong artist Kasin Lung. The Labubus are monsters with individual personalities and are sold exclusively at Pop-Mart, where they usually sell out within minutes.
I can’t say that I understand the trend, but I will tell you that I actually spotted my first Labubu “in the wild” yesterday while picking up a prescription at our local pharmacy. The pharmacy tech behind the register had a Labubu sticking out of her lab coat pocket and when I tell you that my jaw quite literally dropped when I saw it.
I truly didn’t know that people truly cared about Labubu in “real life,” but now, I have proof.
Apparently, the way you flex your Labubu IRL is exactly how the pharmacy tech I saw was — you wear them in your pocket or prop them somewhere on your being, like on a keychain or purse.
Or, if you happen to be getting married and want your Labubu to match you on your big day, you can also order a custom matching wedding gown for your lil’ monster.
Brides can create a custom Labubu bridal gown, starting at $50 at David's Bridal.

David’s Bridal explains that they offer both “couture” and custom Labubu wedding dresses, starting at $50.
You can order a Labubu wedding dress in the same fabric and design as yours or create a completely unique look.
Not a bride? You can still play the matching game with your Labubu, too, with a $35 matching bridesmaid dress or other fancy-occasion gown.
To get started creating a bridal-inspired Labubu look, the retailer explains that all you need to do is book an alterations appointment at any David’s store near you.
David's Bridal also offers special order Labubu gowns for any event.

David’s Bridal also explained the trend of the Labubu wedding gown, noting that many brides are ordering custom Labubu wedding dresses to match their own gown as a unique keepsake and as a fun photo prop.
Additionally, custom gowns or bridesmaid dresses can make a unique gift for any members of the wedding party who also collect Labubu dolls.
The company adds that David’s Bridal designers can recreate “virtually any wedding dress style in miniature” for the Labubu dolls, from classic ball gowns to modern minimalist designs, bohemian styles, and even colored wedding dresses.
David's Bridal even showed off the start-to-finish Labubu wedding clothes design process on their TikTok page.
Comments on the TikTok post ranged from the incredulous — “This is WILD,” noted one user — to the excited.
Some customers even noted how fun it would be to make matching homecoming dresses for their Labubus, so any moms out there reading this who are prepping for the upcoming homecoming dress season, get ready, because you read it here first.
