Sadly, a popular music festival in Michigan has likely been changed forever due to an inconceivable act.
Authorities are looking for information leading to an arrest after a dead newborn baby was found in a porta-potty at the Electric Music Festival in late June. The baby was discovered by an employee in a portable restroom in the camping facilities.

According to the New York Post, the FBI is offering a $15,000 reward to anyone who can help lead to an arrest after a dead infant was discovered in a portable restroom in the camping area of the Electric Music Festival on June 28, 2026.
It was confirmed by police that the preliminary autopsy results revealed that the baby was “born viable and alive,” per the Post. The baby is being described as a neonate, which means they were younger than 28 days.
There was fluid found in the baby’s lungs and stomach, which indicated to authorities that the baby had taken breaths after being born, according to a News 8 report read by The US Sun. The news outlet reported that the umbilical cord and placenta were also reportedly discovered inside the portable restroom.
The investigation led to one woman being falsely identified as being connected to this tragic event.
According to The US Sun, the dead infant was discovered on the last day of the festival. The investigators have quite a task ahead of them as there were 50,000 people in attendance and 12,000 who worked at the music festival, per the news outlet.
Since this happened at such a public event, there have been some theories popping up online about people who may have possibly been involved. One of those people was a woman from the Muskegon area named Falana Scott, The US Sun reported.
The Michigan State Police investigated the tip about Scott and announced that she had “fully cooperative” and provided every type of DNA sample that the authorities asked her for.
Scott has been eliminated as a suspect, but it turned out that she had been between 10 to 13 weeks pregnant while attending her 10th festival before she discovered she had suffered a miscarriage, per the news outlet. “(This has) been a lot of emotions and a lot of things to process. America still thinks I did it,” Scott shared with The US Sun.
Police have urged the police not to spread unverified information about the case online as it can affect the investigation.
People online are wondering if the person who gave birth didn’t even know they were pregnant.
Folks online in this Reddit thread have discussed what happened and can’t help but wonder if the individual who was pregnant may not have even known. One person shared, “It is entirely possible she didn’t even know she was pregnant. Cryptic pregnancies are much more common than many of us realize.”
Another individual in the thread shared their thoughts on what they think may have happened. They commented, “Incredibly tragic, and very likely somebody who was hiding their pregnancy from family/friends. This is exactly why we need universal access to sex education and healthcare (including abortion).”
Another person expressed their concern about the pregnant person’s health after potentially giving birth there. “Even if that’s the case, she should’ve contacted medical and the police. Even for her own safety, she will be hemorrhaging and high risk of infection. Regardless she should’ve contacted someone immediately,” they wrote.
Regardless of your thoughts on what really happened that day, it’s an incredibly sad situation. We hope whoever was involved comes forward and faces the consequences of what happened that day.
