A Personal Trainer Was Found Dead & the Ring Camera Footage From Days Before Raises Questions

Elena Moore seemingly vanished on June 11, 2026, after leaving Planet Fitness in Lexington, South Carolina. The 39-year-old personal trainer reportedly left the gym and walked toward a wooded area behind a nearby Lowe’s Home Improvement Store.

Police began searching for Moore, imploring the community for tips that could lead investigators to her. On June 17, the Lexington Police Department confirmed finding a body that matched Moore’s description. What happened to her remains unclear, and newly released doorbell camera footage only deepens the mystery.

Moore regularly visited Planet Fitness.

According to ABC News, Moore frequented the Planet Fitness location at 560 Whitford Way. She signed in at 6:40 p.m. on June 11, but that was the last time anyone confirmed contact with Moore. Lexington Police Department Inspector Missy Wilcox told ABC News that Moore worked as a trainer at Wolf’s Fitness Center and her disappearance was totally out of character.

Surveillance video caught her leaving the gym and walking toward the nearby Lowe’s later that evening. Additional footage reportedly showed her walking in a Publix parking lot near Old Cherokee Road around 9:17 p.m. on June 13, wearing the same clothing she had on when she left Planet Fitness.

Police received a tip that led them to a body.

Chief Terrence Green of the Lexington Police Department said during a June 17 news conference that a tipster shared a possible location for Moore earlier that day. At 2:48 p.m., investigators located a body fitting Moore’s description near North Lake Road and Old Cherokee Road.

Police did not immediately confirm her identity that day nor release a cause of death pending a coroner’s report. Green would not confirm details, claiming the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division was investigating Moore’s death.

Moore allegedly appeared on a doorbell camera acting strangely.

Sarah Burleson and John Moore, who is no relation to the missing woman, reportedly live less than a mile from Moore’s last location. The couple shared a video with WIS that appears to show a confused Moore attempting to pick up their DoorDash order and then enter the couple’s apartment on June 7, days before she disappeared. John Moore told NewsNation that Moore seemed very confused.

“Once I got the food from her, and I turned to walk back in the house, whenever she started to walk in the house with me, she seemed really confused and disoriented about where she was or whatever she was doing,” John Moore said.

Burleson claimed she later went to walk her dog and allegedly saw Moore going through people’s packages. When she asked her what she was doing, Moore reportedly said, “Honestly, I have no idea,” per WIS.

Moore might have experienced mental health issues.

An unidentified source told NewsNation that Moore allegedly spent time in a mental health facility shortly before her disappearance. The source also claimed that Moore and her husband, Brannon Slice, had recently experienced trouble in their marriage. NewsNation reported the couple had been together more than 13 years. Slice is not a person of interest in his wife’s disappearance or death.

Per WIS, following an autopsy, police intend to release more information.
