What to Know
Whatever you feel regarding the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in 2026 and the reported shooting that occurred to cause an evacuation, the reactions from the guests at the event are what people are talking about now. When it comes to Erika Kirk, people can’t get over how, in a video posted on TikTok, she is hurrying through a hall sobbing.
And those who were already tired of her before this point really don’t want to hear about why Erika was crying or how the reported shooting incident affected her. It’s also not lost on her critics that her husband, Charlie Kirk, was a strong proponent of the right to gun ownership in the United States, so there’s that little chestnut.
Erika Kirk’s outburst is a bit much for some.

In the video of Erika, she is hurried through a hallway by officials who may or may not be part of the Secret Service. Maybe they’re the Secret Service B Team, who knows? As she hurries past the camera, Erika sobs and says she “just wants to go home.” OK, that’s totally fair. Anyone involved in a public place where a shooting was reported will want to go home and get the heck out of there.
But for Erika’s haters, there’s really nothing she could do, and nothing that could happen to her, to make them feel sympathy towards her. So Erika sobbing her way down the hall after attending Donald Trump’s event doesn’t really rank high on a list of important things for the public to worry about when it comes to those who already opposed Erika and all of her beliefs.
The TikTok user who posted the clip says in his video, “As you can see, she’s crying that she wants to go home. Then go home. Why are you even there? Why were you there in the first place? Why was this person even invited? I have no sympathy for this woman whose late husband said that gun violence is necessary in this country to maintain the Second Amendment. Was this gang violence as well?”
Someone commented on the video, “She said that in front of the cameras.”
Another user wrote, to the same tune, “Oh wait a min…I see a camera!!”
Others shared comments to show just how much they don’t care about Erika and her tears by sharing mundane things going on in their everyday lives.
“There are two squirrels playing outside my window,” a TikToker commented. “I named them Laverne and Shirley.”
Someone else wrote, “My coffee tastes so good. Happy Sunday everybody. I hope you enjoy your day.”
And, another added, “Anyway, I need to go watch paint dry.”
People are still talking about her drive-by crying incident.

Maybe it’s because Erika haters were already over her antics by the time the White House Correspondents’ Dinner rolled around. Or, they just can’t stand her, period. But some still remember when In November 2025, Erika was seen driving through a crowd of people chanting Charlie’s name. She was in a back passenger seat with the window open as she openly cried. At the time, she was blasted for being commemorative. Now, people see that same act with Erika’s reaction to the shots that reportedly rang out at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
After CNN shared the same clip of Erika from the April 2026 event on TikTok, users commented the same way they had before, with disinterest in her tears. Others chimed in to call out the Turning Point USA leader for showing her emotions in front of a camera.
“She said that in front of [the] camera conveniently,” someone pointed out in the comments.
Another wrote, “Her ability to find the camera is impeccable.”
Someone simply added, “I miss the days I didn’t know who Erika Kirk was.”
It’s not lost on people that her husband was in support of gun ownership.
Yeah. Charlie Kirk did say, "I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights."

Here's the full quote:
“Yeah, it's a great question. Thank you. So, I'm a big…
One of the things Charlie spoke out about during his many college tours where he welcomed debate and conversation from those who opposed his views was gun control. For some, his views on guns and the Second Amendment were controversial. After Erika was at an event involved in a possible shooting, the irony was not lost on Erika’s critics.
He once said, of deaths related to guns, “It’s worth it. I think it’s worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That is a prudent deal. It is rational. Nobody talks like this. They live in a complete alternate universe.”
