Dad Reportedly Watched in Horror as Friend Crashed Car Into Baby’s Pram & Killed Her

The family of a 6-month-old baby girl has experienced the unthinkable. On January 2, 2025, a dear family friend reportedly crashed into their daughter’s pram and killed her. The horrific accident occurred in a parking garage in Tenby, Pembrokeshire, in the United Kingdom. Alex Kelemen reportedly watched as his baby, Sophia, became pinned between the car and a wall inside her stroller. Tragically, there was nothing he could do to save her.

The baby’s aunt, Adriana Kelemen, told the Daily Mail that the driver, Falviu Naghi, was a friend of Alex Kelemen and his wife, Betty. They planned a fun and happy vacation during their New Year holiday break. Now, Naghi faces charges in Sophia’s death.

The family had just finished a shopping trip.

According to Adriana Kelemen, Alex Kelemen was with his young son and daughter and Naghi and his wife in Tenby when the accident happened.

“They were all on a New Year break and had been out to the shopping centre. From what I have been told Alex was with his daughter and five-year-old son while his wife remained back at the AirBnB. Alex and his son were not injured, but he had to watch as the pram with Sophia was crushed against a wall,” she told the Daily Mail.

Emergency crews took Sophia to a hospital.

Adriana Kelemen created a GoFundMe page for Sophia’s family. She explained that following the accident, crews airlifted Sophia to a hospital with serious injuries. The baby reportedly had a broken pelvis and brain bleed and died a short time later.

“Despite the efforts of the doctors, Sophia could not cope with the impact, the surgery, anaesthesia, the brain bleed and all the injuries were too much for her fragile heart, which eventually gave out,” she wrote on the page.

The GoFundMe has surpassed its original goal.

Thus far, the GoFundMe has raised GBP 2,191, or about $2,738, surpassing its original goal of GBP 2,000, or about $2,500. Adriana Kelemen wants the money to help her family.

She wrote, “I hope to ease a very small part of my brother and sister in law’s hurt and suffering and raise part of the necessary funds required for the funeral costs and repatriation, as this was an event no one could have ever expected or planned for, especially right after the Christmas holidays.”

A court has charged Nahgi.

Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed in a statement to the Daily Mail that Nahgi was charged in Sophia’s death and remanded to Swansea Magistrates Court. His next court appearance will take place February 7.

Adriana Kelemen claimed in her GoFundMe post that Nahgi was under the influence of drugs and alcohol when the accident occurred.

Police asked the public not to speculate on the tragedy. “This is a tragic incident and is a live investigation,” a police spokesperson said via the Daily Mail. “We ask that you do not speculate the circumstances and allow our officers to carry out their enquiries.”
